On the 04 f7 EFI air box there is a wire connector called the fuel designation connector.
It is to be connected for regular gas disconnected for ethanol, MTBE, or oxygenated gasoline.
My question is what does MTBE stand for?
What does the connection to the ECU as in running lean or rich?

I always run supreme gas (91) and I have never unplugged that blue connector.
Thank you

Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether is another form of oxygenated fuel (like ethanol), which the EPA mandated for use in certain areas, to give a leaner/cleaner burn. A lot of areas have banned the use of it now, because they were finding it in ground water. Unplugging your connector allows the ECU to enrich your mixture to compensate for the leaner burning fuel.
