Kind of wierd but on the polaris website they list only the 03 pro x's and 04 x2's and xr's as a pro-x chassis. But they list the 04 x's as an edge chassis.
Was ther and advantage of an 03x over an 04x

the standard X's were nothing more than a graphics package, the pro-x was a different chassis completely... other than a few nuts and bolts there are no similarities between pro-x and edge x... the standard 04 pro-x is indeed a pro-x chassis and not the edge chassis as you elude to... the polaris site is incorrect...

the Edge-X is and Edge chassis. the '03 Pro-x and '04 Pro-X2 are idendical for all intents and purposes and a Pro-X chassis. the Pro-XR is also the same Pro-X chassis with shock and lightweight upgrades. no real changes from '03 to '04.

depending on which one, 600 or 440. they are a different chassis. basically Polaris builds a chassis for the 440, the next year the same chassis is a 600 and the next year it is a 700 or 800. while each year the 440 gets a new chassis. the 440 is the test bed for most new stuff and everthing else gets the trickle-down effect. since the big push for the Fusion, Polaris did not change much on the '04 models from '03. they redirected the engineering team in a manner of speaking.

There was a limited build pro x 600 in '02.  Very few were made.

exactly... in 01 the prox 440 and 600 were identical except for motor (the 01 px6 was a BRUTE, buckboard ride with race stiff shocks/springs), in 02 the motors were different of course and the 440 had uprated shocks (walker remotes), but was essentially the same sled... in 03 the 440 started getting much more radical (same chassis as the 04 pro-xr800) and the pro-x6/7/8 in 03 were still the same as the 02 pro-x6, and stayed that way through the 04 model as well... only difference between prox and prox2 was the seat and the shocks, same chassis though...

henn..that sled was a late release and you will notice the difference in the style of radius rods. they did not cut tapers on the end of them like in '03 and '04. they sort of look like just a plain aluminum rod.

It'll take everything you dish at it and be ready for more the next morning. Enjoy it, I sure love mine. Every year I think to sell it but get awefully stingy for it. :div20:
