hi everyone, just started on this forum and i hope to learn alot. My brother has an 02 edge x 600 that runs real rich throughout all throttle positions. It's especially rich on the bottom. I've tried adjusting the idle mixture screw, with very little luck. We've also installed a hot seat boost bottle. I'm now thinking of jetting down on the main jet or even just a pilot jet change. We had a 2000xc sp 600 (genII) that ran right along with 700s all day, and this 600 barely breaks 105 on the speedo and runs more like a ves500. I do understand the gen II chassis was faster, but gas mileage shouldn't have been dropped from 15-16mpg on the 2000 to 10-11 on the 02. Any thoughts or good carb set ups out there? I sure miss that 2000 600s performance and would like to see my brothers 600 be a little closer in performance. Thanks for any tips. I appreciate it

Jet it down a bit. Just keep an eye on plug color and piston wash. Do a search on piston wash, that should have some answers for you. I think you can go down about 2 sizes safely depending on elevation. Its always cheaper to run rich than to start replacing engine parts after a burn down. Just be careful with the jets.

I definetly wouldn't jet down any further then 2 main sizes from everything stock running sea level at 0 degrees on this sled. In fact except for mis adjusted fuel screws possibly causing the rich condition...the stock specs. are very good. I'd be looking into a possible clutching problem...maybe the driven spring being sacked out if getting poorer than average performance, or too tight track tension. As far as top speed....do not expect an edge to high end like that 00 gen2 600....that sled was a giant killer on top.

My 02 (500) ran like shit since the day I got it. I messed with it forever, adjusting fuel screws, adding the boost bottle, changed jets, changed plugs. It ran the same everytime even backfiring intermittently. Finally got the right fuel screw setting (not the stock setting) and it runs good now. But what a pain in the ass to deal with for a long time. Good luck. I ended up putting stock jets back in just to be safe. The others were not really doing much anyway.

Keep adjusting the fuel screws and I would think you would be able to dial it in.
