Which exhaust do you prefer? I prefer the Jaws Rowdy Can. I always like the loudest can possible.

If it weren't for the land owner issues and negative impact these cans have on TRAILS ... I'd actually say "Pretty cool video!" (because I do like the sound & don't blame anyone for wanting to get rid of the SUITCASE exhaust that comes from the factory). And if this were a sled that was going out west where it really doesn't matter ... good for the OP. But seeing that WI registration sticker makes me shake my head, and hope he's nowhere near a property owner that could cause issues.

I had twin mod blasters on my ZL 500, it was awesome, would walk all over my cousins XC 700, luckily it was back before people really started throwing fits about cans and noise makers. However I was 17 then, being almost twice the age now I’m good with my quiet sled but I still would like a single pipe for it no can

Right. I agree. If you are in the middle of nowhere, cool. But watch some of his videos. He rides a lot in highly populated areas mostly. They are just jonesing to give loud exhaust tickets. Not sure why anyone would risk it, especially with the loudest can you can get. Get an Slp, or One of the other ones that at least have been made to pass current noise regulations if you want to get one.

This is one of those subjects that won't die. Fact of the matter is, people are more sensitive and more inclined to throw a fit, close trails etc. It is their land, they pay the taxes, and you have to respect that. And I myself have made the argument of loud motorcycles, cars, etc. But...no one is gonna close a paved road due to noise complaints. A trail, especially on private property is a whole other story. Play by the rules, and be responsible for he greater good of our sport. If your out in he middle of no where ..let that f___er sing! But personally, get an all can, perform better than most others, sound good, and are quality units.

while i get the loud ex. thing. but snowblowers and lawn mowers make as much or more noise. and there used right in your neighborhood. we did a little test of this with four different people judging. a snow blower wot and a sled with pipe and can. on a stand side by side. you couldn't hear the sled until 8000 rpm over the snow blower. so if in the woods and not actually going through yards etc. these new pipes/cans are really not loud until wot. we go right by game wardens here in N.H. with BMP and SLP full pipes and they don't even look in our direction. one waved to us once. we all had pipes. it's the moron that has to be coming to the pumps, restaurant etc. on and off the throttle so everybody looks at them. there cool. NOT.

i think non snowmobiler's just don't like sleds period. and will use any excuse to get rid of them. they look at them like a environmental night mare. because they smoke and smell bad to them.

Its different with lawnmowers and snowblowers as most are used on their own property as a necessity to keep ones yard up. Snowmobiles are considered just another toy used for recreation...and your right some non-snowmobiles for whatever reason rather see them just go away. This moron just gives more ammunition to them for hating this sport.

He'll get a couple tickets. We had a younger buddy that insisted on running that BullSh!t and we made him ride in the back. Johnny Law got him and the ticket wasn't cheap, also held us up. After his second ticket and a Big A$$ fine he put the stock can back on. I used to run dynoport stingers on my triples, I get it and it was cool in the 90s, but times have changed and Michigan for example doesn't play with that. They have DB meters at the intersection/check points to weed out the Douch-Bags. Don't ruin it for the rest of us...

To see our sport continue, we need all jurisdictions to adopt zero mods to your exhaust policy similar to Quebec. Also think some of the realistic cans out there sound good but lots of folks out there flat out hate em. Unfortunately they are among those that grant land use permission and without them we have few if any trails. Bottom line, loud Harley's on the road argument is long since past, either respect for landowners returns or the sports days have a number on it. Yes that includes azzhats that just can't bring themselves to stay on the trail.
Clubs everyone are flat out begging peeps to stay between the markers and ditch anything but stock exhaust.

They started getting tough in quebec way back around 00 as far as running any type of aftermarket exhaust part. We were warned a year earlier about this when in st jovitz. Could recall a trip around then with a buddy that we told him to make sure his sleds exhaust was 100% stock. Claimed no problem he's got the latest 2000 era slp can, they'll never know....WRONG, we ran into a security check a day later for registration, and the other normal stuff for making sleds legal to ride up there. Long story short...our buddy got a $250 ticket for the can. To this day he's still pissed off and would never ride up there again.

That is absolutly pathetic and would be pissed too. did he say something like this "Well I can't tell if it is louder, but it sure does look louder." Sorry, but that law should be illegal. They should not be allowed to make parts mandatory OEM. Way to controlling and authoritarian. If it passes a sound test, than it should be good to go. I never heard a land owner say that pipe looks way to loud. I hate loud looking sleds.
it's quebec...

Had a Jaws can for a year on my '16 Pro-S 800, would put it on when going to play in snow with friends but took it off. Drove me nuts, the drone was so bad that you can actually hear when the exhaust valves would open. I enjoy the quietness now, would not recommend putting one on also, laws in Ontario are getting strict also. Got pulled over 4-5 times last year to check for loud exhausts and proper registration.

I saw a video from DT "Jim" showing a 15+hp increase for the 850 Doo with a Jaws pipe and can, thinking that's not bad but I bet it does not comply with Wisconsin db laws.

Then someone did a video comparing or testing db's stock 850 Doo vs Jaws pipe and Can and would you believe the Jaws system was 1db less than stock at 4000 rpm. If this is all correct I would be interested.

With all the trail closing issues due to loud sleds I can only hope you're just trolling here with this question, but in case you actually are serious might I suggest riding without a helmet, that will make your sled louder to you and in the event of a crash Darwin will take over.

#39 ·
That is exactly what comes to mind whenever I hear the question.
I'll be honest. I don't really care what other people put on their sleds. Some actually sound good. Some of the high pitched whining cans sound terrible.

I just can't ride on a loud machine.
I have tinnitus. I'm trying not to make it worse. Mine seems to flare up even with stock exhaust. Higher rpms, and the valves open, really flares the ringing. I like to watch these threads to see if something is quieter than stock.

Didn't watch the video but know the answer to the question. Loudest exhaust is none at all. Please try that and see if it's loud enough at that point.

We have 3 miles of trail that crosses the family farm. Ass hats with loud machines are a problem and not just on our property but everywhere. Sledders are their own worst nightmare.

Besides being fined they should also be sentenced to 5 years of landowner relations duty with the local club. I don't care if they live 500 miles from where they ride but every time there is a complaint they should have to shuttle their dumb asses over to the homeowners house along with the club member/s that get the short straw (like myself) and have to try to calm down an irate landowner threatening to close down access to their property.

Maybe participation in a few of those visits would finally get through their thick skulls.....Not likely but at least it's a better form of punishment than simply a fine.
