my brother has a 2015 and a 2019, he liked the '15 that much that he bought

another one just to have. the '15 is a sno-pro, the '19 an lxr. says the lxr rides
way better than the the sno pro as it is a lot stiffer ride.

Bobmar, make sure the '14 has had the latest reflash done on the ecm, the
'14 and '15 had issues with kicking back when starting and breaking the starter
ring gear replacement means removing the engine from the chassis.

lots of info on the yamaha site
but 14's has more small issues,15's got the updates
16's I believe got the coil over shocks and rid of the air shocks(claims ride much better on them)
14-15's had the weaker non serviceable bearings on the tri hub, and ALL have the tri hub, which many will call a weak link, as is ANY bearing freezes up, can cause damage
so, most go to a tri hub replacement 4 wheel set up!

all I believe suffer from possible reverse issue, as well as starting issue's mostly due to non sealed relays(cheap fix replaced with better relays)
better yet move fuse box, as its in a crappy location to begin with, unable to get to without hood removal more or less!
but moving fuse box also gets less cold air and snow dust on it, so a win win !
dupont slides help with running cooler!

I owned a 2015 viper LTX. pretty much the same thing besides some clutching. I loved that sled on flat trails. It had great power and handled very well. I could stay right with doo 800s all day and pull on 600s. When the trails got rough, it would wear on you with the extra weight but its not a deal breaker imo. Never had to even think about oil which i guess is nice if you put on alot of miles. All around good sled!

14's have the strongest cranks and some late model 14's got the 15 updates like the new fuse that won't act up in the freezing cold (although its the location that's more of the issue), and Float 3's like my 14 had.
Tri-hub as mentioned, although I think that's a little exaggerated but something to be mindful of.
Overall you will like it, the 1049 is a torque filled powerplant and probably as reliable as a sled motor you can get.
Much stronger then the 1056 if their both N/A.

The 7000 motor in my opinion is a great trail sled, gas and go. You can run 87 and without worrying about running out of oil on those long rides.

As mentioned above the motor has plenty of power, the pull from 0-70 is arm stretching (if you have a heavy thumb). With the front suspension set correctly and with good carbides the sled turns great in the corners with the extra weight up front. I'm 59 and have no trouble riding 150 mile days with 40 year old youngsters. Mine is a 137 I wouldn't think there is that much of a difference to a 129.
