I wish the new Arctic Cat gave us something to talk about.
Too many secrets, not enough hype.

Tell us more about this new 800
Tell us more about the new front suspension
Tell us more about what's going on in Thief River Falls and St Cloud MN

I miss the days when John S @ Arctic Insider would feed our passion for Arctic Cat products, rumors and gossip.

I don't care that it comes in this or that color. I want details, I want tech.

The Arctic Race Suspension II features new forged aluminum spindles that are 1.5 inches taller, new lightweight upper A-arms that are more rigid and revised geometry that delivers a new roll-center and adjustable camber.
It’s set at a 42-43-inch adjustable stance on the G2 ProClimb skis. The new suspension is said to offer improved cornering plus increased ground clearance.
This is the only thing I can find where SnoeGoer mentions the new front suspension.

Please post your source.
Because if its this: https://snowgoer.com/news/2020-standouts-4-snowmobiles/27134/
Then you got nothing.

What’s different for 2020 is revised ARS II front suspension geometry for flatter cornering plus updates to the CTEC2 engine – with new cylinders, pistons, combustion chamber and fuel rail. Frankly, the front suspension alterations on this model were barely noticeable, and the run quality on pre-production 800-class Arctic Cats at the Rode Reports event was inconsistent – some models ran strong enough to chase down 850s while others had burps and stall-outs at times. Clearly calibrations were still being finalized.
This is the only thing they say about it, one a new model machine, that's still a demo, where calibrations where still being done, as a tester sled.
Not a usable reference.
Opinions of the completed models are all good and have positive remarks from Snowtrax and other places that have drove them. I would agree that, its obviously not a night and day difference, but it will definitely be a noticeably better handling/turning front suspension.

Snowgoer is retarded. The front end was revamped with longer spindles and moving the bottom bushing up 1.5 inches raising the front end of the sled and making the roll ratio smaller. Apparently, it makes a big difference in ride and cornering performance (prolly why the fat fucks at Snowgoer didn’t notice anything).

Also, the mil was completely retooled to make it a “true” 165 ho sled. Retooling isn’t easy or cheap.

It should be a great sled.

I for one hope they don’t do away with the race dept. I attended a amsoil Snocross event this season & noticed a lot of brand loyalty. Also it’s a great place for testing new stuff & improving what they have.
I’m new to Arctic Cat having bought my 1st one at the end of March, and I would also love to see & hear more info about what’s going on & what’s to come.

I would almost like to see AC do away with dealers and sell direct they could still have authorized service centers where you could have warranty work performed or prep work done at a cost if you preferred. It would drop the price a bunch, may not be as convenient and sure there would be some risk but anytime you purchase a toy there is risk.

Not really much for excitement honestly; We are making a handful of trail sleds this year, 2 trail crossover sleds, and 3 mountain sleds. Oh and yeah you can only spring order them. Honestly this year they are gonna lose a ton of market share to the other 2, i see it now. Between the belt blowing on my parents 18s, the garbage idle after update, inconsistent rpm, and cats ability to not make a solid sled still. Im little peeved, especially because they dont build the sled i want. I want them to succeed, but at the same time im just scratching my head.

The limited builds and spring order only is giving the smaller dealers with leftovers a chance to breathe and catch up. People are thinking way too far into it. I would bet 2021 is going to bring something new...maybe new chassis?? Haven’t heard many issues with belts blowing on 18’s but every brand has issues and at the moment nothing about the Cat selds scare me away.

The Cat dealers around my area are advertising stock of 2020 MY sleds that are on their way. So, it appears that dealers got to order for floor stock. It also appears Textron is cuttting all non-essential expense,, race dept and Iconic people. Would think that if you implement that, you gotta give it time to see if that works. JMO. snap

Dealers could order as many as hey wanted BUT they had to put a deposit and pay for them after delivery just like us. For many it was too much capital to outlay.

For the record I rode the 2020 t-cat and it handles much better on the front end enough for me to buy the parts this fall to update to the same. It corners better(better turn in) and does not get squirrelly as the 2017 does at times. The 17 still handles well but the 20 is definitely better.

Well, apparently anyone who wanted a 2020 had too and has already put a deposit on a 2020, so their is little need for 2020 model year hype.

And I imagine Cat's focus is currently on the next generation of sleds and ridding themselves of the 2019 and older inventory. With all of the Cat dealers that did not like Cat's inventory terms, dropped their dealerships, and sent back all hold-over stock, Cat has got to be sitting on a lot of hold-over inventory that they need to shed.

I imagine, come Fall, that the pricing will be aggressive in order to get rid of this past model year inventory.

Regarding, the house cleaning of the "old guard" at Thief River Falls, I imagine they will be fairly quite about this and will focus on the future. I truly hope Cat comes out of this ahead, as it would suck to only have 2 snowmobile manufacturers.

The last thing AC would want to do is tip off the competition and allow them time to match any new features/models/technology that they may be planning. There will always be a need for leaks, rumors and insider knowledge to feed the demand for AC's faithful. But, the only way to steal a competitor's customers is to catch the other producers by surprise.

In the late 80's and early 90's, I traveled Northern MN and ND for my job, and periodically stopped at Polaris when my schedule allowed. I remember them interrogating me before taking me on shop tours, to be sure I wasn't a spy from another manufacturer. Being secretive is part of the business.

Btw, never got to tour the AC plant, and that's something I still hope to do.

#1 - if the race dept is shut down, why can I still log onto it and order parts for my sled? I just checked it 10 minutes ago and it was fine.

#2 - I almost ordered a Riot and then held off thinking it was going to be a little close for me cash wise. Now all summer long I have unlimited overtime in our new Trump economy and things are looking awesome! I wish I ordered one... now I can't. Hopefully some dealers do stock them, because I'll be buying one if they do as long as they're not raping the customers with pricing.

#3 - I've seen the floorplans for a couple of the bigger US snowshows for this fall and I hate to say it, but there's only 3 OEM booths centered on the venue floors. Is Cat and Yamaha combining booths, or is Cat skipping the shows altogether? I'm afraid from the looks of it, its one or the other.

I have a Hyper Green coming with the 1.35" if you are interested in it. No markup, you can have it for spring check pricing.

If you read the first post in the thread...
The new engine: https://arcticcat.txtsv.com/snow/trail/zr-limited

The new suspension: https://arcticcat.txtsv.com/snow/crossover/riot#capabilities

What's going in TRF? They build sleds and ATV's there.

What's going on in St. Cloud MN? They build engines there.

So again what secrets? :dunno:

A few years back I went to Hay Days with some friends. We ended up camping a few miles north getting away from the big crowd. Saturday night we were at one of the local bars when all of a sudden the big shots from the Ski-Doo trailer stopped in. Ended up having some interesting conversations with a few of them. One thing I remember is one of them saying the majority of the people that buy a snowmobile really don't know what they are buying. They come into the dealer with brand in mind, they pick an engine size and color but after that they have no idea what the sled is made of. They don't know about the shock packages or gearing or clutching or any specifics of the engine. They have no mechanical knowledge of the sled.

Come on Vince; I see your posts on here. Your not a key board warrior, your a contributing member. Don't be a Ski-Doo guy

Call it secrets, call it lack of shared information, call it what you want.
Me; I want specifics.
We all know the new Ctec2 has a new injection system. I want to know more about it.
Where are the injectors located.
The crankcase? We could see the injector boss on various older engine where AC was trying this option
The transfer ports? One or two injectors per cylinder? Can they control all fuel with one or do they have low and high speed injectors?
Ever notice how some pistons have small holes drilled in the side? This is to assist oiling.
Are they injecting oil into the fuel rail like before? If not I assume the slot in the piston has been removed. How are they getting sufficient oil to the wrist pin? We all know they are dumping less and less oil to these engines

I know they make sleds in TRF and engines in St Cloud.
I also know they shutdown production in TRF for plant upgrade.
What type of upgrades?

Back in the day John S @ ArcticInsider would tell us this information and much more.
I enjoyed those stories.

I have money to spend
You want me to spend it on your product you have to tell me more than some generic sales brochure
This day and age with all the media options there is no reason not to

Guess it depends on the dyno.
If some "reputable" facilities had the 2019's over 165 then the new motor should be over 170

Soon the new sleds will be in the hands of some that can tell us the facts
