Local speed shop ported this sled, trying to verify it actually was done. Appears to not have been done. Still has a sand cast look.
This sled carries a back story worth telling, however the owner should post that once we determine what's been done.
I will say this the fix kit doesn't fix anything on the ho engine...
Pretty pissed about Priceless screwing me.. long story short i called him about a bb kit.. instead he talk me into this kit that was supposed to be similar power and more reliable... well 800 miles and now 2 motors and he no longer reply back to me.. what's really sad is it wasnt any faster then stock.. payed him $3200 for nothing.. I think I put more miles on my boots walking g this passed winter then I did riding..
True story, no bs either. I pulled that pile of priceless junk out of the woods both times.
Unfortunately the story is worse than this. Slow turn around time to what might have been the all time slowest and poorly executed clutch set up I have ever seen. Really and nerd could have picked a better set up..
So stay away boys, I have held my tongue on this one long enough, he's had his chance to be a man and man up.
Promised me dyno time to tune this setup.. but that never happened.. wasnt faster then stock.. the stock Doo 850 would smoke me.. I payed priceless to pipe, port, head kit, and different piston to make my sled run.. he did all the work and it wasn't any faster then stock.. only thing fast about was how fast it went down
I had the same issue with another well known shops porting. mine ran great for the first 50-100 miles then would start falling off 400-500 miles max. Pistons look identical to yours. I was told it was from lack of lubrication even though I had extra oil in the gas along with the controller adding extra oil also.
I was told the same thing ( lack of lubrication) but the first time it went down he had a Polaris tech check the oil pump and he said it was good.. still went down again..
What pistons are you guys using? I’ve ported a couple 800 ho motors without issue. The ones I’ve built are faster than the stock motors. I’m using stock pistons.
One of my friends did the same mod. It seized numerous times. IIRC, he finally determined that the shims were warped and created a part throttle air leak. Numerous fuel reprogrammings failed to fix it prior to that. Wasn't caused by the Wiseco pistons used.
Forged pistons are fine if set up correctly. Key word is correctly! I believe there is more to the OP story than we know. If we had all the details we could probably figure the root cause. Crank seal perhaps? Bad injector?
I can only speak for my setup but I have replaced crank seals, check crank run out etc. had injectors checked , changed fuel filter, verified fuel pressure. The last time I built block off plates for exhaust, exhaust valve mounting surface, and made plugs for the throttle body boots and vacuum checked the engine fully assembled to 7psi and positive pressure to7psi and everything checked perfect.
Plate seal had no signs of leakage. Also priceless blamed that on the first set of pistons. He than Had the plate milled at cci, same outcome. Ssi pipe and head kit. Was a package buy from them.
Squish came in at .055, this is not my first time pulling down a motor, so save the talk about not knowing anything. I have turned wrenches professionally. So its my turn to correct the priceless shortcomings and lack of intrest on his behalf to stand behind his work.
The motor will go back together with oem pistons and likely my port work.
I’ve seen numerous Priceless sleds built, tuned and outrun almost everything they were put up against, for LONG periods of time.
That said, ALL of said sleds, were Cats. Whenever I approached Jason about doing work on my Polaris sleds, he always seemed uninterested. Maybe there was a reason for that?
Not sure why anybody would waste their money on Polaris 800 engine “fix kits”. I’m pretty sure there is enough information out there that proves they’ve been worthless for almost 10 years now.
If there’s nothing wrong with the shim, no air leak and no oil starvation causing this, then it seems like it might just be flat tuned wrong, pistons are too tight or has a cooling issue.
Not saying anyone is lying here, just stating a few facts and my opinion. Again, I have close friends with almost 15 years experience with Jason without any issue. In general, he has a pretty good overall reputation. That needs to be said too, IMO.
Agree he has a good rap, and guys like him. The exact reason he took it to him. Completely Jason's call on the fix kit, he promised way more than he gave. That's a fact. Your in MI right, you can gladly see the parts and sled if you think this is bs. My shop is always open for sledding.
For me it's a piston clearance problem, intake only on the mag side scuffed up.
Just not sure why he started playing with polaris, costly mistake for booboo to trust him.
