Holy cow, what an upgrade to the back end of my 2016 ZR6000. I was bottoming out even after having the shock re-valved so did some digging and came across the Raptor spring. It's a triple rate made for a Polaris but fits the Cats. There is absolutely no slack in the spring at all even with the collars turned down all the way.
It's sooo much smoother than the stock double rate with absolutely no bottoming out even on hard whoops and sharp dips. I'm 240lbs with gear and it totally transformed my sled.
This is not a sales pitch, just a shout out to those who are struggling like I was. For $60 plus shipping, it's the best and cheapest upgrade I've done so far.
Hope this helps someone else. :buttrock::buttrock::buttrock:
Just posted the link above and it will take care of your problem. I was laughing in my helmet every time I braced for impact but glided through it. Hahahaha!
Could be. I bought one about 3 weeks ago and rode 500 miles on it at the end of last week and weekend in the UP. Give them a call to get an update or wait until next year because it's seriously worth the wait.
Funny you say that because my last trip I ran ski Float 3s ressies with Evolve chambers and was not overly impressed. At Haydays this year I'm going to look for high/low speed compression only IFPs and add the front ski Raptor springs.
No fitting issues with the raptor on 16 800 sno pro? Sounds like a good upgrade and reviews and a lot less the hygear. I know hygear has great products but this looks like a similar product.
Just ordered mine today. Haven't rode the sled yet, but I don't want one that is known to bottom out either. For $60 I'll take my chances that this is the fix based on the consensus here. Thanks for the info
just got the two of them ...one for the RS 6000 and one for the ZR8000, will install once its back from D&D for riot kit. how much did you pre load or how many turns or threads above collar. im about same weight geared up.
Mine had no slack whatsoever with the collar turned down all the way and didn't add any preload. I just got another for a '15 XF6000 I picked up but haven't installed and hoping it fits the same.
--Edit in: one spring end (looks like the tightly wound one) has the nub that typically sits in a spring collar adjuster slot. So this will determine orientation. Check your spring when removing. --
It's 1 rate until 1 different wound section coil blinds (becomes solid). Typically, but not always(depends on rate vs spacing for a section vs other sections)That no longer adds it's psi rate.
Now you have a different rate . The spring maintains this rate until a different style wound section coil binds(becomes solid).
Now you have 1 last section which obviously is 1 rate so will stay 1 rate.
Someone could make a spring tester and graph out exactly what happens psi thru the whole distance until total coil bind.
Until about two days ago I was all about getting this spring for my 16 sno pro 800 just to help the ride out because I thought for $60 can't go wrong. Now I'm back looking at hygear spring.
Finally got some miles on the sled this weekend in some really poor trail conditions. I’ll say this with conviction, for $60 this has been my favorite upgrade to the sled for the money. Rode in a lot of junk and I don’t remember bottoming out once. Rode so much smoother and handled the stutter bumps better. Thanks for the recommendation on this spring. It made a world of difference for me.
I just sent a message to Raptor on their contact page with a link to this thread asking them to chime in with an ETA for the springs. Hopefully they will speak up.
