Default Help me clear up some gearing questions

Hello everyone, back to sledding after a few years of low snow conditions, marriage and home buying.

Snowchecked a 2017 Rush Pro-X 800 with the cobra 1.352 track and I'm absolutely pumped for it, but I do have a couple of questions.

I've read just about every thread from the past couple years about the axys platform but I've ran into some information that contradicts other things I've read. On the gearing information here on HCS, it's been stated quite a few times that both the ripsaw II and cobra tracks utilize the 1.61 gearing ratio found on the Pro-S sleds. But looking at the parts on Polaris' site and from a couple of posts, polaris lists the gearing as 1.68 as it utilizes a 22/37 vs a 23/37 on the ripsaw.

I guess my question is, has anyone with a 2016 Pro-X and the cobra track option torn into the chaincase and looked at the gearing? (Assuming yes)

Perfect! That's exactly what I wanted to know. Gets confusing with so many different answers floating around.

if you really want that sled to flat out rock? change the bottom gear to a 38.

22/38 1.73 ratio. way better in my book. especially if you go off trail some?

This is my plan after I get through the initial break-in period. I do a lot of trail riding in not the greatest snow conditions, but I also ride a lot of off trail in the UP and in the good snow belts around here.

How much would this loose you on top?

Not necessarily anything. If you look at stock gearing on the 800 with 5% overdrive and 8450RPM, it works out to almost 120mph. That isn't going to happen. Do the same figuring at 22/38 and you come out at about 112mph. You "might" be able to get there with good conditions.
