Default 903 DET after motor warms up

Hey guys. Kinda posting for a buddy of mine. Hes got an iq chassis and put this 903 slp in it. He said when its cold it runs like crazy but once it gets warmed up it starts to detonate (exhaust actually stretching the springs to the muffler). I was thinking timing but he said he has a dial he can turn 4 either way. What do yall think?

Since nobody has jumped in here, I would suggest sending an email to Jim Fairchild at SLP:
