Default Clutch alignment pics

So I saw there was a new red puck for the 998s to measure alignment. I had the silver one they recommended last year. Definitely different. Is this about the amount you all saw when you changed over to the "new spec"? Looks like I gotta shim it out at least .030. Maybe .060

Is it suggested to be dead on the line or favor shallow or deep? I did have it at what i thought was prefect alignment on the bar. Yet I still had high belt and Clutch temps. Now with the new red puck specs , I am quite a bit off I'd say.

Your doing everything right. I believe there is about 30 thousands difference between the 2 plugs and red one is the right one. Looks like you need to add around a 30 thousands shim in secondary (between sheaves) to get it properly aligned. Make sure to torque secondary bolt to 60 ft/lbs before installing the belt.

I set mine as close to the middle of the line as possible but shims only go down to 15 thousands so you may never get it absolutely perfect. For what it is worth I got a second red plug and I found that the 2 red plugs are not exactly the same, they are about 15-20 thousand difference (first red plug I have was only about 15 thousands difference from aluminum plug and second one is about 35 thousands difference). I use the second one (one that shows the most difference from the aluminum plug as my guide). I believe Arctic Cat spec is pretty liberal at +/- 30 thousands.

It took .030 and now its dead on the line. Good eye!
I'll be checking temps to see if they run any cooler.
+ or - .030 is A LOT i think for a range. Maybe I'll get a .015 and try it in and out that little bit more and see which is coolest.

The other thing pissing me off is that I put a new replacement primary on and with less than 150 miles on it, I can already feel a groove being worn into it where the belt sits at idle! That's why i pulled the last one that had 1500ish miles on it. New Dayco 5060 belt installed with the new primary. I dont leave it sit and idle all day. Just enough to get above 100 degree water temps and then go. I know the belts are harder but 150 miles and grooved sheeves ? Wtf? I know people say run it with the grooves its fine but I expect that at closer to 1500 to 2000 miles, not 150 miles .

I have never seen that alignment bar before lol.
If you shim between secondary shives doesn't that effect deflection?

They came from countrycat. It's a cat specific part number. You can buy the red plug separately but they are on back order. You can buy the bar and the red plug together though in a kit. Its not on back order.
