Default Secondary backside hitting clutch guard !!

Well, I've had excessive clutch heat since new, and blowing belts when ever doing top speed runs, pulled the secondary and noticed the back of my secondary sheave is hitting the clutch guard when trying to fully open, wearing a groove in the aluminum clutch guard and also shaving a little off the backside of the secondary sheave. Am I right in thinking this probably tells me everything is way out of alignment. Hence the clutch heat, even when taking it easy, and then when I'm trying to go wide open the secondary must just stop opening when it starts hitting clutch guard slipping the belt even worse ... Would a Scott Taylor brace fix this ?? 2015 XF9000 ..

Probably means your pulling belt too far into secondary and opening Sheaves to the extent your hitting .

Stock secondary ?

Either not wound properly or need to go to next hole. We just experienced the exact same thing on the top stages.

I talked to John at RW this morning and he said that they have seen this before. Belt guard mount is just bowed out to far in their experience. Going to cut a 1/2 moon out of the guard mount. Going to get my hands on a OSP bar to check anyways, but they said they haven't seen any 2015s off. I guess 2015s got updated components ?

Same on mine. Guess I'll put a zip wheel on my dremel. Grenaded a belt over the weekend. Looks like I'll also be putting on a Bellanger belt guard with a new lower $kid panel. Should have just left my wallet at the dealers........

Trim it and bend it back. Checking alignment is always a good thing though.

You'll probably find the brace by the gas tank rubbed as well. IMHO the secondary should not open this far. Before we did the conversion even at 130 plus mph the secondary didn't hit. Twister works well but for high horse power it either needs a stiffer spring or needs to be put in 4th or 5th hole.

Thanks for the info. Nothing touched before I did the Twister also. Perhaps I'll try the 4th hole. Sacrifice some top end I guess.

The secondary opening more is a good thing in my opinion, I wasn't hitting either before when it was stock, but now I'm getting more top end and going to be adding more HP so the secondary will most likely achieve full shift even easier. Ron said a lot of these rub when they start adding boost, poor engineering on Arctic cat. Or Arctic cat never thought the secondary would open fully with stock HP. I guess for the 2016 model year the guard mount there is already cut out. Took AC 4 years to figure out ...
