Default New 800 Recall? "Arctic Cat Recalls Snowmobiles Due to Fire Hazard (Recall Alert)"

I just came across this and didn't see any posts on here about it. If I'm not mistaken, the original recall didn't mention the flames at all. This one is dated 4/18/2019. Does anyone have any more information on this? Is it possible this is a different update from the fuel re-mapping that seemed to have mixed results?

It’s the reflash for the ecu. I got a letter in the mail a while back. I probably won’t update it

If it’s not that one I will have to check my mail and see if I got another letter

I will contact our dealership this morning and see if this is something new. We had the reflash done march 1st and it still was melting plastic and shooting flames at idle. Just got it back yesterday afternoon from them. Its been there a month for a belly pan replacement and others with these i would keep an eye on your primary clutch. Ours was cracked in 1400 miles. Funny they didn't say anything about another flash. I will post back.

Cat should just step up and replace the parts to make them like a 2020. As we all know there is a reason that the 2020 is all new and the 2018/2019 flame thrower has to be a big part of it. Them stepping up would be similar to Ski Doo doing so a few years back rebuilding all the 800 etecs.

I agree. One would ask why would any manufacturer redesign an engine so long in the making two years after it was released? I honestly believe there's a serious design flaw with these engines. I also can't believe this problem didn't show up during testing as they would have had to of put these on a long straight a way and ran them hard for durability testing.

1. making them into the same as a 2020 would be a completely new engine, or almost (crankcase, cylinders, pistons, head, fuel rail, reed valves) it's not just a couple parts..... so that's not going to happen.

2. it's been discussed before, check my other posts, there is nothing inherently wrong with the '18-'19 engine. the reason for the redesign is simply for emissions purposes only.

It’s such a strange deal. My brother has 4,000 miles on his 2018 8000rr and I have never once seen a flame, plastic it fine except for a lot of browning. It does run rich. I wonder if it has anything to do with how they’re ridden? Not that it should matter but he beats the living daylights out of his. WFO all day. I wonder if the people who cruise more has the issue? Either way it’s sucky to have that issue and then bam, new engine. Kinda like poo 850 also. Crank issue fixed and new piston.

It`s odd how all these 800s are different.

My `18 CC runs like a champ, has no flames, and gets great mileage.

Talked to my dealer this past Saturday about the reflash, and how I don`t want it done, and he said he would`nt do it either.
