I just received mine. Which direction is the spring installed? I am thinking the tighter coil end is upwards?

My dad once told me, never to buy anything from an ad that has the word "WOW" in it

Probably doesn't matter but this pick of their shock shows the tighter wound section at the top.

--Edit in: one spring end (looks like the tightly wound one) has the nub that typically sits in a spring collar adjuster slot. So this will determine orientation. Check your spring when removing. --

Well, good thing this isn't an ad and I'm not associated with Raptor in any way. Dad will be pleased that you are following his instructions.

Mine had no slack whatsoever with the collar turned down all the way and didn't add any preload. I just got another for a '15 XF6000 I picked up but haven't installed and hoping it fits the same.

What is the point in running that if it is pre loaded off the first section?

it's a triple rate spring Greg, some compress it enough to turn it into a dual rate spring, very scientific stuff. i'd like to see the instructions that come with the springs that they don't publish the spring rates for.

in other news, HyGear sponsors the Polaris forum here and Cat guys are talking about Raptor springs made for Ski Doo's and Polaris's's's's. it's truly the bizzaro world.

It's 1 rate until 1 different wound section coil blinds (becomes solid). Typically, but not always(depends on rate vs spacing for a section vs other sections)That no longer adds it's psi rate.

Now you have a different rate . The spring maintains this rate until a different style wound section coil binds(becomes solid).

Now you have 1 last section which obviously is 1 rate so will stay 1 rate.

Someone could make a spring tester and graph out exactly what happens psi thru the whole distance until total coil bind.
