2014 XF 8000, need to shed some 300+ peak RPMS
Looking for a few clutching gurus that might have an idea as to what direction I should go it.
I have a 2014 XF 8000 Ltd. (137" track")
I made some changes over the summer.
New SSi Y Pipe, Carbon Tech Reed pedals (stock cages), relocated the air temp sensor and installed a set of Magna Force primary weights and D&D helix on the secondary.
New stock clutch springs front and rear.
Low end and mid range is VERY good. MUCH better than it was in stock form.
Peak rpms is the issue.
Revving 8440 at least.
Really want to be at 7900-8000.
I have the magna weights set up at 1,2,1,2 right now. 1 in the tip and so on.
What would be the best option to achieve 7900-8000 rpm at this point?
One more thing.
This is a trail sled, I'm a trail rider and that's all it will ever be. Just looking for peak performance for trail riding that's all. Not a lake racer and I know it. :)
best kinda problem is over rev ,,, be happy and where u got 1s stick more weight in there and try again ...if still over reving and you like the way it is engaging (smooth) and shifting out down low make note of where the sled is over reving...if in midrange then add weight there ...if when you are topping out like 80 mph and over the add to the tip ... and enjoy the gain in performance !!
Magnet locations are typically named with the one closest to the Pin/bolt being the #1 spot. Your 1-2-1-2 is really 2-1-2-1 (which is a good starting point). As he said, add tip weight. 2-1-2-2. But your going to need even more than that. The next step is to go 2-1-2-3 or 2-1-3-2, as he said, you'll have to study it some more. If you see rpms go even above 8450, and then fall down a bit, (your max rpm does not stay way up or keep climbing) then you will want 2-1-3-2. If it's revs up from the mudrsnge real fast, like almost too fast, then go 2-2-2-2. Magnet placement depends a lot of rider weight, ad how you want your sled to feel. Taking the time to move magnets around, can be very rewarding.
Thanks stronger800.. I was wondering about this numbering scheme and how to apply those weights as well since adding my Zambo clutching parts.
I haven't been able to open her up yet to see the max. On my 12, I used 77g cat weights to bring the rpms down to 8150. Try getting 77-79g w the magna weights. I have a d&d clutch kit on mine. Pulls hard from start, now just waiting to see how it is in the long run.
