Default Anyone know what these engravings on cylinders mean?

Tore a 2012 hcr 800 down that I bought used and found these engravings on the back of the cylinders. Do they have any meaning or just from the factory? I put the m and p on them for mag and pto side.

those are replated cyl, aftermarket companies like milenium or cv tech do engravings. also might be that they were ported by some shop.

Hmm. My buddy bought the sled from the original owner that claimed it was never touched. The original owner said he bought it through the race department.

Well its not a "race sled" haha. It was a consumer sled bought through the race program But that's not to say they didn't tinker afterwards

Long story short.. To fix a coolant leak.

When it would sit a long time, like a month or so you would get a hint of coolant smell from the exhaust. It did it when my buddy bought it with 1000 miles. He did head orings which didn't fix it. It would only go through under a cup of coolant a year so he just ran it. So when I bought it this year I tore into it to figure it out. I pressurized the cooling system and with a bore scope I could see a very small leak in the pto side crankcase where the halfs of the crankcase seal together.

You don't have to be a snocross racer to be part of the program. Drag racers qualify, too. My guess would be that the previous owner wasn't completely truthful, and that engine has been apart before.
