Default Fall Maintenance 2011 Rush 800

Ok, let me just say that this was inspired by usacmh's thread. I new I needed to go through this 2011 800 Rush Pro-R Retro that I purchased last year with 4000 miles on it.

I wanted to get the shocks rebuilt and just go through the rear skid. That turned into a new track and front suspension rebuild.

I removed the rear skid to find the front shock spring broke which caused the eyelet on the shock to be deformed. I have all 4 shocks getting shipped off to Northstar Performance. I also found pretty much every bushing/bearing to be bad. With better view of the track I have most of 144 studs broke and when I tried to remove them, let's just say I was less then pleased. I found a good deal on a Composit track and Woody's studs.

I also had a bent upper A-Arm, bought a used one and needed to get it powdercoated to match, so I have all 4 control arms getting some love locally.

I am just now putting the studs in the track and will hopefully get that installed soon, as well as the rear skid.

Some pictures of this disaster. I am trying to get it back together Thanksgiving week.

That's some impressive carnage. Was that sled ridden around here most of it's life?

The bushing thing seems to be a common Pro-Ride problem. The bushings on my 2010 had turned sloppy after 3-4K. Even buddies with lower mileage sleds have had issues (14 600 in my avatar). Look into the Super Daves A-Arm bushing kit if you haven't already, think they are made of Delrin.

From what the previous owner said is that they would take yearly trips to Canada and put 1000 miles on them each trip. He was the original owner.

As for the bushings and bearings, looks like he never addressed them, just rode the sled, and they weren't that bad, just that front spring in the skid. I did have an accident right when I bought it, that bent the right upper a arm, not anything noticeable, but it needed some prying to get on. Also broke the lower shock bushing on that side.

I'll look into that kit, saw the brass bushings, but didn't think they were necessary and the Polaris ones are only a few bucks.

I glad I could inspire you!! Nice shop you have there! It's amazing how it snowball's and one piece removed lets to something else that was worn. I'm finally gather up the pieces to finish putting my skid together and then on to the top end!

Tell me about the rabbit hole.. I should send you the bill.. lol.

I am glad I did this, it gets ridden pretty hard and mostly by myself, I only ride in a group a few times a year, so this is good peace of mind for me.

Thank you for the kind words on the shop, this is my first one, prior was the garage and our vehicles had to be outside, so the wife is happy now she gets to park in the garage and i have my shop for this crap (my stuff).

Parts back from powder coating.. have the suspension front and rear back together except for the shocks. Will get the track swapped out in the next few days.

Have the new track installed, was easier than I thought it would be.

Those Composit tracks are nice/heavy duty and seem to work well. I bought one for my 2010 Rush and my buddy ended up putting it on after I sold the sled to him.
