Funny story, I will try to make it short. About 8 years ago I was in a restaurant

in Caddy Mi. with a group of about 10. the waitress clearly had a MN. type accent,
so me being the smart ass I am told her I could not only tell she was from Mn. due
to the accent but tell from what town due to the "dialect" she laughed, they all
laughed, but when I said you are from the Eveleth area her jaw dropped. You
guessed it, she was from Eveleth. So to shorten the story, i knew nothing of Mn.
at the time except a guy I worked with and his son worked with us at the same
place were from Eveleth, so being that was the only place i could think of that's
what I said. turns out this waitress was the guy I worked withs sister who had
recently moved to Caddy from downstate after moving from Mn. I had no idea
it was his sister until the next week at work when I was telling him this funny story.

I work with a guy who grew up in the Boston area, and he has a problem with the r's.. some words he leaves the r sound out, and other words he adds an r.. the word saw is pronounced saw-ur.
Here in Mn, it seems the further you get from the bigger cities, the stronger the accent tends to be.
