Default Is there anything positive to talk about with Cat?

I am not trying to stir shit here as easy as that would be. Just looking at the top 5 threads in this forum and it as bad news about Cat. Anything good to talk about? Anybody have any truth on what is going on with textron and cat and yamaha?? As much as I like to rub the madcatters I sure hope we keep the 4 mani's going.

Yep there Is some positive. They are now owned by Textron who has very deep pockets...Hopefully they have the appetite to do something with Cat as well

That's actually a bad thing, deep pockets. That means they know how to make money, and expect to. They also understand the value of a buck, and won't piss them away if they don't see in a reasonable time frame, them adding to their deep pockets. They don't beat dead horses. Maybe once, then they send it off to the glue factory to make money. That's all they see. It's up to the Cat fans, start buying sleds, or it's over. It's that simple. Anyone of you guys who defends them with such passion, riding a 10 year old + Cat, get off your wallets or these threads will be about reminiscing about the good old days.

Otherwise, yeah, the good news, guys are starting to get their snow checks.

Whats happening with Cat reminds me of what happened to the Camaro/Firebird in the late 90's. They were fast, great looking and reliable performance machines, but sales dropped after a few years and only muscle/performance enthusiasts bought them. Negative hearsay and lesser supported involvement in racing sparked more rumors along with other issues, and sure enough they axed the 4th gen fbody in 2002.
GM came out with more SS cars, optional features became standard ext but it was too little too late, much like all the welcome changes to the 2020 sleds, which snowtrax say make a very nice handling difference, especially for the Tcat which can have trouble keeping the skies on the ground in corners.

Cat is running into something that was inevitable, just like Thanos snapping his fingers.
I touched on this in another thread, but the writing is on the wall. Arctic Cat is not dead yet, there is no towel being throw in, but it sure looks like 2020 might be one the last production years, possibly the last. The big teller will be 2021 models. By mid snowmobiling season, manu's start to tease changes, tweaks and new sleds for the coming year, just like vehicles. If we don't hear anything from Cat about 2021 by Christmas, it may be all the info you need to hear.
Again, this is still a large company that's been downsizing and they missed their opportunity to expand when they had the chance in the past a few times, they should have got more serious in the early to mid 2000's when their sleds we're selling very well. The general direction and handling of their finances just hasn't been executed well, and I am going to miss having yellow, green red and blue. Soon it will be just red and yellow, with less competition and advancement in technology. Cat was always great about forcing everyone to catch up.
If they do go under there is also a chance a better, smarter group of investers bring Arctic Cat back from the dead. Quite honestly it may be good, but as of right now, everything is play it by ear, with some real substance to them having serious financial woes.

Cat doesnít have that reputation as a performance machine like they used to. They are trail runners these days. The procross is so out of date

I agree 100% that the ProCross chassis, while still very formidable on the racetrack and trails, its a little long in the tooth.
I will also say I drove a new Assault last year, and there isn't really a new sled that is leaps and bounds better then the other, especially with the 2020 tweaks to the ProCross. The Poo is a little lighter, the Doo is comfy (admittingly the last Doo I drove was an 11 Gade and I haven't drove a Gen 6), and the Cat is rigid/strong with that pyramidal design that allows a wide range of powerplants. But again, one is not substantially better then the other, and Poo's chassis in several years old now, as well as Gen 6 Doo which debuted in 2017, will now be 3 years old. Cat won real sled of the year with the 2014 ProCross, which was just 5 years ago.
Again, not trying to stick up for Cat, I agree its time for them to make a major change or new chassis, but that seems to be the least of their problems as of late.

I've been reading up on these threads all week and now I don't know if I should pick up a 2020 riot X next week or not. I kind of want to wait till after Christmas and see what's going on but at the same time I don't want to miss scooping up a cancelled SnowCheck. Hm decisions decisions.

Wait til March you can get a left over cat 2020 800 for 3-4k. Only brand you can still find in crate 2013-2014s while 2020s are rolling off the line.

Ironically, those are the sleds worth having.

Hears some news. Textron is expanding the dirt division and downsizing the snow division. Just like Iíve been saying for years. They donít give a shit about snow and are at the point where they will only make what they can sell. Iím surprised they even retooled for the 800 revisions. But they probably didnít have a choice. Theyíve gave all the old guys with the passion the boot. Now itís just a factory.
