Default The garden thread

Our garden is a full month behind last year's. Rabbit population seems to be down (I've seen a fisher cat skulking around several days now).

But Finches have nested in my eaves and have done some damage. Mostly to my snap peas. I put netting up and they just picked it apart. So I removed it and I'll replant a day or two after my siding team pulls everything down in a couple weeks.

Some pics:

Garden here isn't doing too bad, some plants like my poblano peppers and celebrity tomatoes are a bit behind, but others are doing great. Got some baseball size tomatoes already on other varieties, and small peppers. Even the chard and string beans are growing like weeds. Although its been cool, and rainy so far, all in all really can't complain.

I've been hearing this awful screaming at night which my neighbor says is a fisher cat. He says they kill/eat anything with a heartbeat. Your rabbids must be extra smart if they obey your sign!

I've seen fisher cats, porkies, possums, skunks and coons here among other wildlife, they will clean up just about anything. Other than that, plenty of muskrats keep raiding my crawfish bait trap. Those porcupines are friggin loud to.

Oh ya. I shot and ate probably 2 dozen wabbits last year, and sold another 3 dozen to a restaurant my daughter works at.

I can butcher a bunny in about 5 minutes. If they are large enough I strip the cape in one piece. And tan/dry it. Gonna make a vest when I have enough good pieces.

The Fisher (and the Fox) have a similar "scream" horrendous, awful. Scared my granddaughters something terrible.

I've seen the Fisher now six times, way down in the back, all the animals use my quad trails. I've got two deer stands down there, and 2 trail cams.

You must not know it is illegal to sell meat from wild animals.

Well aware of that fact...I forage too and sell wild leeks, mushrooms (I belong to a mycology club) wild asparagus, and a few other edibles.

There are 3 restaurants I've sold to over the years. All high end. And I get decent $ for my stuff.

Wild plants are not the same as selling wild game. At least be wise enough not to post it on a public forum.

Yeah, you can't sell any meat commercially in the state especially wild game if it doesn't have an inspection stamp on it.

Not just State, It's against Federal law to sell any wild game. It comes from the days of Buffalo hunting.
