Gave up planting cucumbers years ago, they don't get eaten fast enough and end up growing the size of zucchini's. I'd rather grow a couple different types of squash instead.

I take it you must be 4-5 weeks behind in the growing season compared to us. I put in my transplants around may 6th. Friggin tomatoes are up to 6' high on the indeterminate varieties, and loaded, peppers at 3' and many loaded. Any lettuce/radish's are history. Been friggin hot, going to be 90+ again.

Yeah most of that didn't go in until the week before Memorial Day - and it hasn't been HOT until the last 3 weeks or so here.

I was worried about putting in the plants too early here...it was warm at the time but then 2 weeks straight of cool rainy weather. Those young plants looked like crap till around memorial day. They took off in june, and growing like weeds now, had some ripe tomatoes and picked a few peppers already.

Stagger your planting every 3 weeks. It will cut down on over abundance. Make pickles. I love pickles

Same here with the slow cokes, didn't help getting frost in June. I'm looking forward to making pickles so I hope they produce.

Wife has been doing an amazing job with the garden despite the deer getting to her broccoli and sunflowers already. Second the pickles, she has great recipes for quick freezer pickles and all other sorts. Lettuce is crazy right now.
