My RR buddy told me that many cars there were twin turbo LS engined.

A 1969 Mustang from Indiana with a 505 big block Ford and Roots Supercharger threw a couple of rods through the oil pan right in front of us. His engine builder was parked right behind him in the staging area with a 55 Chevy with NOS.

They needed a tow strap to tow the Mustang out of the strip and load it on their trailer. I gave him mine.

In the fading twilight, Kline powered his ferocious, Big Tire 1966 Pontiac GTO down the 660-foot, makeshift drag strip north of St. Joe’s Hospital to top fellow Michiganian Bryan Rosario in a 1972 Chevrolet Camaro. Danial’s Small Tire 1979 Chevrolet Malibu bested Illinois’ Justin Spiniolas in his 1991 GMC Sonoma.

Kline also clocked the fastest run of the day with an impressive 4.99 second run.

A 4.99 in 1/8 mile is equivalent to approx 7.8 sec in 1/4 using the 1.56 factor.

1.57 is a more accurate estimation, and what Nhra uses to factor.

From my chart:

NHRA uses 1.6.

Just an estimate anyway. Other factors apply also.

The 1.57 number is pretty dang close. I could show you 1000 time slips within a few hundreths of it matching, one way or the other. According to my Nhra hand book, it used to be 1.57. but whatever, it is really close either way. Na cars it's a lot closer, than say a turbo deal that ramps the power in hard down track and leaves soft comparatively.
