Brings back good memories, the '72 Cheetah was my 5th new sled by 1972. It was a great sled, but afterwards switched over to Polaris for about 18 years.
Thanks for posting.

Looks great. Now.....since I'm not quite that old, was the Cheetah essentially the same sled as our Puma, just longer? My mom bought the Puma new, I grew up on it, still have it and a matching kitty cat, now I want to uncover them and take pics.

Call me morbid...REAL close to dying on a Ď72 Cheetah 399 when I was 8 years old back in 1973. Accident riding on golf course. Flew over a sand trap in a blizzard while riding in front of my dad two up. Ironically I played golf at that same golf course today.

So now I am in the process of restoring one. Found one at a junk yard. Had good compression so I said what the heck.

Not much of a shop manual guy so I bought a running Ď72 Puma 399 in real good shape as a shop manual. Then I bought 4 more 72ís for parts for $275 total and one of them, a Panther 440 runs.

So now I will have 3 Ď72 Cats when I am done. May ask you guys for help when I really dig in. Hope you donít mind...if I donít lose them in my divorce...just kidding but wife not happy about 6 Ď72 Cats hanging around my house. Thanks in advance.
