@BattleStorm, on your lake setups, are you running two, three or four per row? If I do grab a 998 I might upgrade the track to a 1.25 or 1.5, but if I leave the 137 1.0 on there, I was thinking three per row with double backers. I just want it to hook up enough on the trails but without sacrificing top speed, if I can get the 1.0 to hook it will save me the better part of $1000.

4 per row, fill the track with iron for drags! I’ve had really good luck with 1inch hacksaw tracks.

Wont sleds lose top speed with too many studs, or studs that are too long? I want a healthy balance of top speed and traction, might look into a ZR 9000 as they have meatier stock tracks. Just a little concerned, the last time I drove a 1.0 with studs, albeit it was a very snowy day, that damn thing slid all over, however it was a shorter track then a 137.

my thought on the 850 patriot. the whole fucking motor is junk. 18 miles on mine and the coating is stuck in the rings, it's in the crank, etc. pistons are complete garbage. Kelsey had one of these apart and told me the motor was junk, now Indy Dan says it is.

There is a give and take with studs and adding almost any studs to a track on snow will slow it down but it’s not that much vs how much better the traction will be off the line. Longer studs do hook up noticeably better but will slightly loose more top speed. It all depends on how far you are racing, 1000ft or less then error on more studs. If you are racing a 1/2 mile or further then run less or none. Most trail sleds will hardly notice a speed loss from studs while racing. A really good speed setup sled on plowed ice will be affected much more by the number of studs.
I will also say I’ve hardly ever seen a sled loose a drag race because of too many studs and I’ve seen many loose because they didn’t have enough studs or the studs were too short.
fastsleddr and stinkipinki like this.

The cats engine has been set to Arctic Catís spec, the same thing the pro racers do for stock class racing. The engine is strong but the clutching is off, it revs too high. Compared to the stock xf8000 I used to have this hcr is a lot quicker. On the other side the assault is 100 percent stock as it came out of the factory and would also gain from clutching.
I saw that..you did the head bob thing, let the cat go first. I also heard you let off too.
