Default Need help identifying engine via serial number

I purchased a beater sled from a friend at work. He had done a motor swap on the sled as the original engine had blown. Currently there is a decent looking Polaris 500 motor under the hood that starts and runs well.

I have been able to identify the chassis via the serial number on the side of the tunnel. It appears to be a 2002 600 XC SP.

However, I am trying to figure out what motor I have. Product number on the motor is EC500PL01703394. There is reverse, leading me to believe it is from a late 90s XLT or touring sled.

Can anyone help me identify what U have. I need to order a few parts and want tomake sure I have the correct motor model #.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Brian

Motor appears to be a fuji 488 l/c twin probably from a late 90's indy 500 sled.

Thanks for the replies. I'll snag some tomorrow morning and post them.

I may need some drive bearings and/or a new drive shaft. I want to make sure I order the correct parts thus the need for make/model year of engine.

The drive bearings and drive shaft have no correlation to what engine is in the chassis. Clutching and gearing maybe, but the bearings and driveshafts were universally used for many powerplants of that era.

D-rail is right on. An 02 xc sp would be the edge chassis and the shaft bearings would be pretty much universal to any edge chassis sled.

Yeah, best results when ordering any parts related to chassis itself, your going to need what year the sled and model is. As far as the motor and primary clutch now, you'll need to go by that separately.

Some pics attached below... And yes, that is an ice tea bottle for coolant overflow reservoir...

So what I gather is that when ordering anything for chaincase through drive, I need to be using the 2002 XC SP model information available on the chassis via VIN #.

When it comes to engine components, previous owner tells me he would order parts for a '97 Indy 500. Sound about right?

And thanks to those that replied. Very much appreciated. I'm giving the sled a going over this spring/summer so I can enjoy the two weeks of winter we get here in WNY if/when it happens.

from what I see in those pics you are correct in your method for ordering parts.
