Default anyone here running or has run a xcr 8 triple in a edge chassis?

I seen a few pictures of them online done.apparently theres a htg kit for installing and a set of pipes.

how tough a job is it to get it installed and is the juice worth the squeeze vs a twin 6 ves or even a mild 660? how about in the trail?does the extra weight in the front make the chassis off balance or too nose heavy?

I find myself debating this over and over as down the road it might be a swap im interested in doing.any experiences ?660 better option?

Our engine shop guy did a top end makeover with the porting on a htg 660 years ago...looked like someones first big job...customer was pissed said the sled was a pooch. I saw the cylinders, boy was the porting rough. lots of chatter with uneven port heights. Hopefully they got much better. I know that htg can do far better at least with big triples.

It's been done numerous times. It fits great and looks stock if done correctly. I've seen one, never drove one though. Should be a blast to drive. If it were me I'd watch for a 02 XCR gen II. The Gen 2 chassis was definitely faster than the edge.

I've never ridden an xcr in an edge, but I own an edge 800 and a gen2 xcr. The power is not comparable so a 600 would be even further away. I don't think the few pounds on the nose would be noticeable. I've always loved the idea of this combination and was close to having the right components a year ago. Unfortunately the owner of the edge found a motor to replace his blown 800 and decided not to sell.

If your looking for the arm stretching power with a decent ride I think you'll be happy.

I've also seen an edge skid installed in a gen2 xcr to improve the ride over the xtra 10. This resulted in big improvement in ride but a slight loss of top end. The gen2 rolls on top end as is, it's all in what you want.

Plus the gen2 looks good. (This is not the sled with edge skid)

How about a Triple 1214cc in a 2002 XC Edge? I have 1 for sale.

I have a XCR 800 triple in my edge chassis and really like it, stock engine with HTG pipes I used the 2002 XCR air box, not as fast on top end as my 03 XCR but rides better in the rougher stuff.

Its either a 800 xcr in the 144 edge chassis or maybe buy a gen 2 xcr and convert to a 144 edge skid is really what id like to do. 120 mph stretchs here don't really exist, but I like the idea of a reliable triple with a 144's traction to say 105-110ish mph.

I guess it would be a lot easier to swap in a skid then to swap a motor for sure, but I really love the idea of a edge body with a wtf engine note coming from it.

Imo, the entire gen2 chassis was just plain better designed for speed. Imo the bulkhead layout for its drivetrain just operates more efficient. It wasn't designed to have the sled ride nicer.

If I were me I would find a nice gen2 XCR and put a edge or iq rear skid in. Youll have a XCR that rides good without the bs of engine swapping. My 136 edge skidded 2000 xcsp 660 was mainly parked since I bought my 13 Indy. I tuned it up this last yr and put some miles on it. I can say it was a blast to drive!
