Generally you can drop 2 jet sizes with non ethanol fuel, one size if e-10 and not worry the whole season. I've ordered arctic cat carb o-rings rather than buying the whole expensive n/s part from poo.

Yes those needle and set assembly from poo are spendy!

144 or 155" check needle and float ass'y o-ring. like was said. if you can't find the o-ring? we have them. leave the needle position alone. what elevation are you riding at?

interesting find. the 08 600 h.0. 144 runs 10-56 gram weights, a 140/330 drive spring. a 56-42-.36 helix, and a blk. l.h. driven spring 155/222. the 155 rmk runs 10-58 weight's same drive spring, same helix, but a blk./pur 160/240 driven. both run 19/41 2.15 gearing.

if under 2000' don't touch the main jets yet. the gearing is fine. the clutching is not. you can run 10-62 clutch weights, a 140/320 drive spring, the helix is way wrong for a 2" track. 48-42-.36 or a full progressive 42-38 helix and a blk./red 140/240 driven.

your running to high of rpm's in the ride area of 35-45 mph with the set-up that's in it. causing excessive fuel usage. my 2006 fusion once dialed in ran 103-105 mph and got 12+ mpg. mostly from clutch changes. and yes they were pig rich so jetting did make up for some. 6-7 mpg stock. jetting changes 9-10, clutching 12+ running hard even better if going 35 all the time as one of my kids proved.
too slow likes this.

Question i have, was there a carb 600 ho rmk? Thought poo went cfi 600's that year. In that case if a carb motor, the clutching would be further off.

Yes, this is a 144 RMK. 600 HO. i think the last year they did until they went to CFI.
I like the idea of the clutching, I am in MN so i am under 2000', the clutching makes sense.

EVERY 600 HO I set up here in Wi. we ran the
3131438 Needle, Jet, J8-9DGN06-57 in the 2nd position, even with bored carbs.
Never squeaked one.
fuel mileage is in the needles.

I agree with fuel economy is going to be the best according to where the needles are set, but this is also the riskiest other than leaning the mains out too far. Leaning the needles promotes the possibility of detonation at mid range rpm that may go unnoticed till its too late....especially if riding at a steady throttle speed.

You’d find more mileage by going to a shorter lug track and numerically lower gear ratio. A 600 spinning a 144 x 2” track with 19:41 gearing isn’t probably going to get much better than 7 mpg. My 121 x 1.25” tracked 600 HO Fusion gets 10-11 mpg pretty much all the time. Drivetrain is very well set up and the carbs are jetted well. That’s with stock 23:39 gearing. If I put my 22:40 gearing in it with no other changes, it drops about 1 mpg.

Well, when i put the Carb back together i will check the clutching, Helix, Springs etc. I'm guessing that the clutch has not been touched since new. 4500 miles. I did put new pistons in 2 years ago and now have very good compression. Clutching is next, just don't want to spend a ton of money on it now as it is not ridden much, it's my sons and he is away right now in the Marine Corps. But would like to have it all set up when he comes home.

I would leave it, and put a tempa flow on it.
