Well, I was lake home shopping with my realtor friend yesterday. And it was single digits for temp, and blowing 20mph. A bit brisk in my book, for non-sledding activities, but perfect ice making weather!

I had to get some info from the end of the dock. Depth and bottom type. Needless to say, my ice auger stirred it up too much to see, but I was happy with the 3ft of water. Which means my dock and lift will work great there!

I'm also happy to report 2.5" of ice on the lake means we are not far from sled season and hard water for fishing!! I saw my first Ice House on a lake on Sunday. That was damn crazy in my book. But after seeing 2.5" of ice, I get it.

We had snow reports that our sled trails were fully covered with packed snow. The deer hunters had been running the trails with pickups, so a good base is already for this week's snow storms. We hope to see one tomorrow and another Friday.

So since Deer season is over in our region, and sled season doesn't officially start till 12-1, that left us this weekend for trail riding via SXS. So we packed up the machines, a cooler, chainsaw and went in search of Wolves. We found plenty of tracks!

Locals reported 7" of ice on the lakes, but some warm weather may have cut that back to 5". More than I expected. Good times and warm temps. Right around 37 degrees all day with lots of sunshine!

Thanks for the report, Mark! Hoping there is enough snow to ride the triangle on 12/1 and 12/2. A buddy just picked up his first sled (17 Sidewinder RTX) and wants to go try it out!

That' exactly where we were was in the heart of the Triangle. It was a good reason to get out, and as you know the trails are minimum maintenance roads and not grant in aid. So perfect place to rip.

Of the 50 miles we put on, we didn't see hardly a patch of bare dirt. Full coverage and packed solid by pickups. And all the water that was present on the trails was frozen solid enough to hold up my 1500lb Wildcat without breaking!

If they get 2-3" of fresh, it will be amazing. If they get the potential 4-6", it will pretty much eliminate any form of rock click. 113 South may be a bit thinner. In fact, the line from Highway 2 up has been holding snow for a couple weeks now, and they are getting it as we speak!

Keep the faith, this is going to start the year off right with frozen water/ground, and packed base.

Got the first 53 miles on Friday night. We rode locally on the Clay County trails.

Good snow for most part. The club has been out packing with a pair of Tuckers. The second was panning, as the first was breaking trail. That actually groomed from Sabin to Barnseville. The North/South trails were flat and fast. The East/West were good if on the South side. When the trail was on the North it was already blown in.

We will be headed to the woods today. More to come!

Put on another 55 miles today in the Bermuda Triangle.

I would say there is more than plenty of snow, it just needs to be packed. As we were blowing through most of it and clicking rocks constantly.

You could tell the roads that were well used by the deer hunters, as the base was much more established. But it just needs a good freeze and to get packed.

We are expecting 3-5 tonight and then the deep freeze. Just as planned. Next weekend, we will do it all over again.

Here are a couple screen grabs. I added a GoPro Max 360 cam to the fleet. And I am excited to start editing for this season!!

100 miles today.

We dropped at Ice Cracking Resort, and made our way over to the South Side of Itasca to grab lunch at Spikes.

Afterwards we rolled down through Two Inlets for a bump at OBT (Osage Bait and Tackle). Then back up through Two Inlets and back to Ice Cracking.

Amazing conditions. We need people out there packing the trails, but the base is building nicely. We had snow falling most of the morning. We even ran the ditch along 34 going into Osage, to find 2'+ of powder!

Good times!
