Default Rice Lake area

So i talked with a lady at curriers resort in rice lake. She said she would have lodging for us if we decide to make the 9 hour trip up tomorrow.....provided it actually snows tonight.
Any of you ever been here? Has anyone been in this area or points north recently and if so how good/bad are the trail conditions? Would 3-5” of new snow get them in decent shape?
I tried calling a few places east of hayward about conditions/lodging but nobody andwered the phone....

A lot of the places on the Chippewa Flowage east of Hayward are closed on Monday and Tuesday

Saturday a group of us rode from the Best Western in Rice Lake up to the Chippewa and back. Great trails in the morning, only a few spots I would classify as poor, and they were small areas. The flowage was great, plenty of snow and relatively smooth. By afternoon on the loop back, the trails really broke down from the warm weather and traffic. Rode quite a few bare spots, mud. Areas of the trail that had snow was still great, but the bad spots were terrible, couldn't even get a ski in the snow.
Overall we had a great day, rode 145 miles. Initial plan was to ride Sunday morning, but decided against it because of the conditions. I would say if they get 3-5" they should be back in great condition as I would expect the bare spots to be filled in.

If you look on the back of the Sawyer county map, a lot of the places advertise their hours as Wednesday through Sunday or even Thursday through Sunday. I know some of the places around the area are open early in the week but there is a lot that aren’t

Closed huh. Kinda hard to book a place to stay short notice on a monday or tuesday then i suppose.

Thanks for the report from the rice lame to chippewa ride. Keeping our fingers crossed for some fresh snow before we make the drive up. Not planning to leave till atleast 10am tuesday.

Are the lakes and rivers still safe?

Was a bit south of there last Friday, rode until the trails started to freeze back up in the evening. The general comments are accurate about conditions. There are places that are "good", others are mud. Once any brown gets exposed anywhere the sun hits, the snow disappears quickly. Anywhere around towns/resorts where there is heavy traffic, the trails are about gone. Any plowed roads with sun exposure will be mostly bare. Hoping for some snow to freshen things up, but it is just that time of year. Mother nature is burning it down, time to ride while you can....
