Default Calumet to Lake Gogebic

Heading up with a few buddies on the 31st. We are staying at the Trailside Lodge in Calumet. We have stayed in Houghton before and have rode up to Copper Harbor and all around up north but never really went south before. How many miles is it to Lake Gogebic from Calumet? Also any suggestions on the best route or any scenic stops along the way? Thanks

Its 70 miles by bird but more like 100 to 120 if you take some of the "long way" routes. And you definitely should take some of the long ways! Trail 13 out of twin lakes was awesome last weekend and if you swing back out on route 12 to ontonagon, that was a great ride too. Right out to the lake. You can fuel up in ontonagon. Lake Gogebic wasn't all that great. The snow was scattered in piles and was choppy. Couldn't really rip across it. But plenty of logging trails that are long and straight on 3 headed back up to calumet. All the trails are great north of gogebic. You go south to watersmeet and it gets very bumpy.
Have fun ! Great area to ride!

The freda loop and the loop by Greenland are nice. 13 from Rockland to bergland gets beat up bad sometimes.

Ive been in bergland for 3 days now, and every trail i have been on with few exceptions this whole weekend have been terrible. The only really ridable place is the lake at this point. I have yet to see a goomed trail or a groomer sice being here.

Groomers probably couldn't keep up with warm temps & traffic.

I was on trails West & North of Gogebic yesterday & today. Everything was great condition.

I was on all except for South of Marenisco.
We went from Hurley to Lake of Clouds(102/11) and 1 down from White Pine to Bergland. Then 8 back. That was with fresh snow from Monday's storm.

Today was Hurley(8) to Hoop n Holler. Then 1S to Marenisco, and up 2 to Wakefield. Those were flat & fast!
Note- 1S is closed due to logging by 8 intersection. We jumped on Lake Gogebic at Hoop n Holler, and picked trail up at Gogebic Lodge. You can jump on at Fishtales also.
Hope conditions will be ok by Sunday. Plenty of snow now though.
