Default Winona-Little John-SSR-Culpepper-Tuggers 1-28

Got a very late start by dropping at the Wart Rd lot in Boylston (Winona) at 12:30.Forgot my snowmobile jacket and heated visor cord. Only 4-rigs there at that time. Winona had just groomed most of their trails. Sweet tabletop! However getting out of and back into Winona was brutal.

The PBSC section east of County Rt 17 through the woods was whooped with rollers. As was the spur (Redfield S51B maybe) over to Little John Rd. The Gathering Place was closed so I christened the new Doolys down & back on the plowed LJ Road. Uggggh. The C5A was nice up to The SSR with had a light snow cover. Culpepper to Fork to Milestrip was very nice. In & out of Barnes Corners and Tuggers was snirty and or brown slushy snow. Ridable but thin.

I went west from BC through the power line trail to Grunley Rd. That power line trail was whooped and had some big slushy water holes going. A good size one at the intersection for the turnoff to Adams. Passable, but not if it warms up. Nichols-Bice to S 51B were good.

The woods trail from County Line was getting small rollers going.

Lots of fresh snow bending over branches. I stopped a dozen or so times to remove downed limbs that other sledders rode on by.

There was a rather larger blowdown on the C5A just west of the S51B intersection.

Not much traffic today. Which is good! 73-miles.

FWIW- for family riding stick to Winona. Me, Iím headed to Barnes Corners or the parking spot on the SSR near Culpepper tomorrow. Barnes Corners & Southern Tug are doing an amazing job. Get it in before the weekend warmup.

Nice report! The DEC is really sticking to the snowmobilers by making us travel the plowed road! It would be nice if the town started leaving some snow on it but I doubt that will happen... I love Winona but I hate being forced to ride 2 miles of plowed road to get anywhere...

Hoping to get some miles in with the family on Sunday, weather dependent...
