Default Lunenburg Essex County Spring Updates

Sharing a few goals and happenings:

*Guildhall-Lancaster Bridge replacement is underway. Project will be 2.5 years and the Club is monitoring. Contractor trailers occupied the Park & Ride lot at TJs.

*VAST announced they will meet with NH Bureau of Trails to discuss the Commerce Zone.

*For the Corridor 2 / Pipe we are looking to improve water control, expand the split lanes and repair some bridges.

*On Corridor 102 / Powerlines we will be assessing the flooding past Wilke. We are monitoring some dropouts in various locations (culverts) that showed up during the thaw.

*Critical repairs are needed for our Pisten Bully. It got big workout. Same too for our Mogul Master drag. It needs new cutting blades.

*We are working with the vendor for our new shelter. We're trying to make it more resistant to fierce winter weather.

Thanks to everyone for their support! Let me know if you have questions. We're preparing for next season!

Whats going on with the bridge? Is the bridge going to be totally closed to sled traffic next winter?

Hi TT,

There was a pre-existing plan to sustain vehicle traffic during the construction of the new bridge. However there is nothing in the plans regarding sustaining sled traffic. Hopefully a snowmobile is considered a vehicle.

The project manager (NHDOT) already acknowledged he does not expect a problem ensuring safe passage of sleds during the construction. However it is also a 'wait and see' as the unexpected is possible. And thus, our Club Officers are monitoring with the intent of ensuring sled crossing remains.

Just curious, are they building a new bridge next to it and moving the road or replacing the existing in place?

New one goes in first on the Beattie property with a road-move.

After completion, the old bridge gets demolished. FYI you can purchase the old bridge for $1
Just contact NHDOT.

They should leave it in place as a snowmobile bridge. It would be a much better crossing if it could be groomed!

I'm currently nervous driving my truck across the old bridge.

But get ready to have your skis blown off...

The requirements for the new bridge include a third lane, 9 feet wide to accommodate a groomer during the winter. Might(?) be the first of its kind in the US!

How 'bout them apples!

200' spans. Love when they drive those beams up the highways.
