Default Crossfire 5 engine swap NEED HELP

Ok so I have a 2004 Arctic cat f7 EFI and a 2009 crossfire 500 EFI I'm already half way through this project as I have pulled both engines now I've hit a road block. Swapping the wiring harnesses is a must as I plan to be using both sleds afterwards. The crossfire 5 has a grey box mounted by the computer which is the voltage regulator and after some research the voltage regulator for the f7 is mounted on/down by the driveshaft. I can't remove the regulator from the f7 as it leaves the bearing exposed and is useless to the crossfire as it is diamond drive. Has anybody done this swap before?? Any suggestions? Need help on this one as I would like to get this finished

The regulator is integrated into that cover by the driveshaft. I believe if you look up the other model that has reverse you'll find a blank plate that you can put there instead. I could be wrong since it was a while ago that I looked all those parts up on the online microfiche. The reason they did that was being that they lightened up the chassis so much it was a cost / weight saving method.

Are you going to be using the speedo still ? If it's got the speed sensor with the v reg then you'll need to put the speed sensor on somehow. That's why I mentioned the cover from AC. That's how I did my ZR900 hood conversion with the F6 speedo in my case from 2005.

Yeah I would like the speedo to work and then after the swap how would I get the speedo to work once in the crossfire since its diamond drive?

Crossfire with DD would have the magnet inside the case (you'll have to look at the microfiche to see where it is) and then you have to put the sensor on the outside of the case. Some had 3 pulse pickups with 3 magnets. You'll have to change the speedo to reflect those extra pulses if so. Same going the other way to a single pulse pickup setup on the 04. It's not all that simple as it's not just plug and play. Work on the engine swaps and then get to this part of it later.

Alright thanks Steve as the swap itself seems pretty straight forward everything mounts right up just this part seems pretty complicated and tricky has anybody done this before?
