Stadt11, thanks for this mod. In step 7 you state "pry ONE of the smart valves apart". Are you implying that only one of the valves needs to be modified to resolve this problem? If so, does it matter witch one or do you mean just do both, That was the only detail that I had a question about in your brilliantly detailed tutorial, Thanks, Frank

See step 11. It says repeat steps 7- 10 on the other valve.

Thanks Stadt11,

I followed your steps and fixed my '04 F7.

I was riding and I had low fuel. I went through rough bumps, it started to suck air and I heard the fuel pump start to whine because the smart valves had shut. I pulled it part yesterday, the valves were stuck shut still. I replaced the springs from some ink pens and they are working great.
