we have a group of 6 guys going out to togwotee for the first time this winter. we're going to trailer our 144'' assaults and RMKs out there from the midwest.
my question is how do are the conditions different in mid january, mid february, and mid march?
Snow, more snow and lots of snow. You can get on snowtel for last seasons totals to give you an idea for each month. Feb last year, we had 40-90 inches depending where you were. 144" tracks are on the short side unless you plan to stay on the trails. The lodge has a facebook page and they do answer questions. Later in the season avalanche becomes a greater concern with the mixed snowfall and temperatures.
honestly if heading out with a crew of assaults. u would prob be best off going in march to early apr with the hero snow.
really no diff other than snow condition u will see 2 lots filled with trucks from MN WI MI IA .
I am heading out to the Tetons on Sunday for a week.
fully expect at least 1 totaled sled out of our crew. 1 back up coming with .
do have arms for both sides packed up to come along
