Default Dealer breakin scan

So because I was crying about oil consumption my dealer scanned my Ecu for rpm above 6000. The machine had about 40 hours and here is a breakdown of what rpm/time. So in 40 hours of run time it only had 5.5 hours above 6000. The line is 5500 but what they see on there system is 5k to 6k. So that 13 and a half hours between 5 and 6 if half of that is over 55 then it should be broke in. But just barely. Interesting to see how little time above 6k. I did notice it is using a little less oil now at 960 miles. Sleds been good to me so far by the way. You need 1000 miles before these are broke in all the way.

Hmmmm I religiously pay attention to RPMs. I notice you have to be going less than 30 MPH to be at 5500 RPMs or less. If I am cruising at 45-60 I am always above 5500. Of course idle time, which I barely do except warm up, or going 30 consistently which I also do not do.

With that said I do always wonder how much time is actually above the 5500 RPM mark.

I'm pretty sure you can see much higher speeds below 5500. I had my wife riding two-up with me for a couples ride last year. Haha, she was hitting my back and gave me an earful once we reached our destination. I tried to explain the whole 5500 thing but she thought I was feeding her BS, lol. And FYI, I had my sled updated to the 2020 tune and in 500 miles my ECU only had 7hrs above 5500rpms.

I've mentioned this several times in the FB groups to all the people complaining about oil consumption... Just because your sled has 10 or 15 or 30 hours on it does not mean it's out of break in. It goes by time above 5500. Now this should make it more clear for a lot of people.

Also makes you realize how insane it is for them to set this as the break in period.

I switched from VES Gold to Extreme.

Pretty sure I used to average 42:1 on Gold.

In Extreme it's 37:1....runs great....Factory plugs....pulls 8350.

018 SBA 800.

Here i always thought i drove the shit out a the thing. It sure uses way less oil now at 1200 miles. Fuel economy wise and oil consumption is stellar. Really though for a 15k toy it should not be an issue. But all the guys I ride with brag and the one guy even rights down our fuel useage and post it on you tube.

Goes to show you how many 850 owners didnt need an 850.. 6 would of been a better choice.. alot of people think they ride hard and fast, but its starting to show who really does and who dont lmao.. guess the ones bitching should of bought a 6 lol

True story. I always get a good laugh at guys claiming they ride hard and then get 14 plus mpg consistently. Those two donít add up.
