What oil to use for the diamond drive?

Anybody have a suggestion for what type of oil to use in the diamond drive? I forgot to pick up the Arctic Cat stuff while I was there, and I don't feel like driving all the way back just for some fluid. The stuff I poured out looked and smelled like gear oil to me, and I'm sure that AC didn't invent some magical oil full of pixie dust, I'm sure it's just some off the shelf type of oil.

Anybody running a synthetic 75w90 or similar oil in their diamond drive?

If it is a warranty issue down the road it may cost you. Not sure what type of oil it is myself but I do know it is only 3 oz. Tough call I guess.[/b]
The sled is an 06, so there's no warranty issue here. I'm just not of the opinion that AC uses some magic oil that's better than any of the over the counter gear oils. I'll probably just toss some synthetic 70w90 in there and call it a day.

I dont know if I would got quite so think of oil being that you run the sled in winter when it cold. Arctic Cat Dimond Drive oil doesnt seem to be that thick. But I agree with you I dont want to use that little three ounce bottle for 15 dollars or what ever the outragous price is!!

Let me know what you use i want to use different stuff to!!!

I only pay about $5 for a bottle at my dealer. I figure for $5 per year, I'll just use what AC reccomends. I doubt AC will reccomend anythign else. You may be able to get in touch with Black Diamond Extreeme Engineering (manufacturer of the drive) and get them to reccomend something else, although they also sell oil for the drives. Don't forget to flush the drive with a bottle of flush when you change the oil, unless you are cracking the drive apart and wiping it clean.
