Has anyone been in the Kokadjo area? would like to know the snow totals and if they are grooming?

We have had some light rain here today so far - no new snow - and no grooming ANYWHERE around here yet that I know of - not up the State Road - not Kokadjo/Jo Mary - not yet. Makes no sense to ruin/damage a $$$ groomer w/such little snow - sure there is close to a foot (or more in places!) on the ground - but its kinda soft now w/these temps/drizzle. Have to see what else comes tonite & next week.......

Good to here - right now its pouring rain & warm. Spoke to Julie up @ Twin Pines a few minutes ago - as I had not seen any sign of grooming around here or up the Lake Road yet - she said nothing has been groomed - Sunday depending on what happens they may try & get out to protect what is left. Will post more when I hear more......ride safe guys - hopefully it will be a long season......

Yes a cooling off period was warranted.
Low snow conditions and a poor economy will do that.

I hope the storm brewing for tonight and tomorrow help bring up the snow totals and bring out the groomers ALL over the state.

I'm in hopes I'll be riding up in that area this coming weekend. :fistpump2:

The trailers ALL loaded and headed for camp Friday evening.

Last year I gave Marie a hug as she was very busy and waiting tables by her self and told her to control what she could control and screw the rest of them. She smiled at me....and said thanks..

There is only one groomer. Everytime we go in to eat we watch them putting a wrench to it and arguing outside. Poor Kokadjo, she has so much potential. Maybe a few of us could buy the town, couldn't cost too much....:blahblah1: Just fun and games no malice....We do love that area...

agreed, used to be our fav destination, but grooming has fallen way off the last few seasons not to mention the hospitality and friendliness we were accustomed to. they have done a great job over the years but seems they are tired of it and maybe time to move on. Hopefully some young passionate people take over eventually and bring it back to it's potential. We will be there next week so hopefully they get the groomer out by then.

I typically see 2 sitting there in the yard...never on the trail. Too bad really because I love riding that area but always get disappointed when I hit their system because they just don't compete with their counterparts. Don't think the did bpond or #4 more than once all last year.

Im just tired of hearing all the bitching about Fred and Marie. If you dont like it plan your ride accordingly. If your one of the guys that need flat groomed trails all the time head to the county dude. If I go to a place with poor service, I dont bother going back..I dont keep bitching and keep going back!

why shouldn't people bitch, they spend top dollar there to eat and get fuel only to get bitched at by the most unpleasant person I have ever encountered in a place like that. Most people in Maine are super friendly and appreciative to have you come and spend your hard earned money with them. A simple smile goes a long way. And as far as the grooming goes people pay to join their club and also put a lot of bills in the grooming fund jar,(I put several $20's in it every year) also they get paid to maintain those trails by the state and they have not been meeting their obligations obviously as they were publically threatened to be penalized by the state. Btw I don't stay at their place it's wayyyyyyy to overpriced I stay up the street in a private log home. But this may be my last trip there due to the poor conditions over the last few years. I could deal with the miserable lady in the store for the 15 minutes I'm in there but I appreciate a well kept trail system and have come to expect it. So if your tired of hearing it...too fucking bad!

You are correct that Marie was appointed to the committee. I hope that helps change some things in that area. I will agree the past few years the trails groomed by that club have not been as good as years past. They seem to have a lot of breakdowns. Like right now their report is they are working on the groomer..... I think Marie may be a good addition to the committee(even though she can be "grumpy" at times...

Yup, some of you may think they're doing everything they can based on funding, etc but bottom line is they drop the ball every year and it sticks out like a sore dick. I have been riding through that system for years and they are always the ones that do the least amount of work....they're too busy running the cash register at the store and serving red snappers for $12.95. Put another store with some gas within 20 miles and they're a ghost town selling scratch tickets to drivers from the golden rd. I've always tried to be sympathetic to their situation but I have grown tired of their story over the years....we're lucky here because there's lots of other trail systems that do a great job and people that appreciate your patronage so it's pretty easy to just make a few turns and head in other directions.

There are a ton of sleds that ride around half of Moosehead lake and thru Kokadjo. There are ton of sleds that ride from Millinocket to Kokadjo on 86 or whatever the number is now. Years ago the trail from NE Carry to The Grant Farm and down Farrar Mountain trail was called the Kokadjo bybass. Get in or thru Kokadjo very early in the day or learn the old un-groomed trails in that area. I don't care for the DID YOU GET GAS!!! environment personally, but complaining accomplishes nothing. If you hit the place during off peak hours you will find that they are alot less edgy.
