1. They will be discussing the antlerless 4 day season that could last as late as Dec. 14th.
Hearings scheduled for
2006 deer hunting rule changes
1. MADISON – People around Wisconsin will have an opportunity to comment on proposed hunting regulations changes for 2006, including an experimental two-year suspension of the October gun deer hunting season known as Zone T, at a series of public hearings around the state in October.
The proposals were authorized for public hearing by the Natural Resources Board at its August meeting in Spooner.
Wildlife officials, working with hunting, agricultural, conservation and other user groups, developed the proposal to suspend Zone T hunting, on a trial basis, to determine if a revised hunting season structure would adequately control overabundant state deer populations.
The proposal package also includes a statewide 4-day antlerless-deer-only gun hunt in December and eliminates the hunter’s choice permit program in favor of antlerless deer tags valid in regular (non-quota) deer management units as additional deer. Background information on the proposals up for comment at the hearings can be accessed through the Wisconsin Administrative Rules Web site.
The meetings are scheduled to run from 6:30 to 10 p.m. with a formal presentation at 6:30 p.m. followed by a comment period beginning at 7 p.m. on the following dates at the locations listed:
