Thinking of getting one for use with two young boys and just trail riding. Nothing crazy with it, I have another sled for that.

What do you think of them? I am looking for a sled that is reliable, gets good gas mileage and doesn't smeel bad like my 2 stroke.

Are these sleds any good?
Tabor Rider
It's a great sled for touring. I ride with my 6 year old and wife on it.Tons of torque, pretty snappy off the line, great ride and gets around 20 mpg.The only negative thing I haven't solved yet is the loud track roaring noise. Really bad from 35mph on up. All in all its a good sled with a great motor. I'd rate the sled an 8 or 9 outta 10. It would be near 10 with a quieter track. That's my opinion, hopefully you'll get a few more to make the choice!
Glock30
I agree with all of that and would add that it is a little on the heavy side as it is a big machine.
I take off the back seat and back rest and ride mine solo a lot.
Very smooth ride.
My riding buddies call mine "the couch"

6" doolie carbides up front are a must.
I am picking mine this year. (optional)

Best of Luck

my dealer told me they fixed the loud track for 06. i will let you know when we get some snow. :fluffy:

Do that dougzdog! A lot of us are trying to solve the track noise with our 05's. Not much luck so far. Enjoy the ride!
YOO
I LOVE ours, as does my wife. When we want, we'll ride double, and believe me I am not a small person. Yet it is comfortable with both of us on it. What is also surprising is my wife likes the sled.

This is the honest to goodness truth, last year on our annual Rocky Mtn trip, we let friends use our 4-Stroke Venture RS for the day. They were Arctic Cat fans, and all it took was for one day of riding the sled, and they got a Yamaha 4-stroke this summer. They did not get the Venture RS, as the Yamaha 4-stroke was a 'compromise' between the hubby and the wife. Wife wanted the Venture RS, hubby compromised and got a Vector.

Once you ride a Yamaha 4-stroke, you'll be sold!

I HAVE THE 2008 VENTURE 2UP.........LIL TOPHEAVY IN THE TURNS BUT LIKE RIDING ON A SOFA ON BUMPY TRAILS. HANDLES WELL WITH 2 PEOPLE ON IT. LIL GOOFY LOOKIN MY BUDDIES CALL IT THE ALIEN
shed
i call mine " the Diesel"

it sure torques

the loud track is still there on my 07
same with the clutch rattle
yes top heavy ( the cost of long travel)

i found mine gives me sore knees after a longer ride( over 150miles), i could go 250miles on my fusion
in a day with no soreness

so i added a seat riser( home made)
i am glad the 09 has the ride forward suspension ( the gt that is )

i would trade up in a second, if it wasn't for the trade in difference
i'm sure it would cost me at least 4000 diff, probably 5000,
as the dealers want to make some for their risk
on a used one
i would do it for 3000 diff

I sold my 05 2-3 months ago with 300 miles, sled was perfect and dealers where offering $3,500. I think they have such a hard time selling
new ones they don't want to be bothered with used. But when it's like new, tunnel protectors, studs, cover, stored inside so like new! I bet
you will have to pay $6,000. I have to admit the new RS Venture GT is very impressive, but after buying a first year RS Venture it's the last
time I will buy a first year Yami. I fixed the clutch myself with plastic spacers washers on the primary clutch bolts, installed extra wheels for
track noise (which did not work), the top heaviness of it was almost dangerous IMO, also the turning radius is pathetic. I was very impressed
with the mew RS Venture GT, but would what a year. I had bought first year Viper also, another bad experience. Again I have to admit I was
very impressed looking at the new RS Venture GT today at the show, but I would recommend you what till next year. Also sell yours on E bay
as you won't be happy with dealer offer.

well the dealer told me a new 1 is $13800...canada
the deal is no freight and pdi, a $460 value ( i call that a profit scheme)
also an $1100 rebate on a gt in canada

and mine is worth $8000 which means i save the tax also on the trade price
so that is worth another grand (i would have to sell it outright for 9 to break even on the trade in)

still $5200 difference with tax 13% in Ontario

i guessed about right for cost

guess i will keep mine for another year

What am I missing now that the dollar has the same value as the Canadian dollar? U.S. list here is $10,800?
shed
ya , don't get me started

i am sure they would say something like
the sleds are imported to the states then there is duty to canada
bull

a skidoo is made in canada and they are still cheaper in the states

the $1100 rebate is probably to try to make up for the diff
it isn't even close

and
you can't even go to the states to get one
without voiding the warranty, (that should be illegal)
the loophole is that you must export it to canada, so that kills the warranty

free trade is a pile of crap
for many things
now i have to go out and split some wood

ggrrrrrrrrrrr

we got a foot of snow last week and i got lucky ,

clocked up 600 miles..... yaahooo....

i did a lot of cruising near 55mph and found out a bit (on the track noise)

as i aproached 55, the reasonance, sped up and slowed down

it was almost a perfect hum at 55 (mine has the 151" track)

so it really seems the howl is a collection of several factors

like tunnel, track, tripple engine, clutching etc.

i hope the new gt with the other chassis, loses the howl.

Wow, you are lucky a new foot of snow!

Not sure if you have been on this site http://www.ty4stroke.com/ but there is a guy with 35,000 miles on his 05 RS Venture. There is a lot
of Yami info. and what I have been reading is the new GT will be really nice, EFI, quiet track, etc.
shed
well still sleddin on the lake in front of camp
more fishin than sleddin
a few more days and even the ice will be gone
it is down to 25" thick
