Just picked up a 2002 XCSP 800 for $2K. Very clean
with Reverse and E start needs topend!! Sold my 2000 Indy Triumph for $2500

Who does good topend work??

I want a good trail performer

From what I read not much can be done.

Except by placing a triple 800 or 1000
in it.. Just need $5K more to do it

The 800 Twins sound like they are just are not respected..

Why are the dogs!!

I also own a 2002 xc 800. But from what I hear, that is one of the best years for them cause they dont have the DET sensor. I dont think they arent respected, they come from the factory with the clutch not even close to where it should be, and most people have to go down two or three jet sizes to lean them out.
I noticed it when I put my can on, it stopped fouling plugs and ran smoother. This year I am going to do everything I just said and put a paddle track on it. I also noticed that nobody set up the suspension so they tranfer the wiegh and dig. That has already helped mine big time. But they get 132 to 137 out of these motors with fat jetting. SO it shouldnt be hard to get an honest 140 out of em!!

The only reason why people have negative comments on the 800 is because of three things. The clutching, jetting and suspension from factory need to be set up for each individual.Once you have this, these 800's will compete with any other 800.
Xc Special
ves valves and cranks have caused a lot of grief for some also

This sled has 4300 miles and the mag side piston has a hole in the center on it
Detonation caused that, not sure what he was runnin for fuel, but he said High Test
gona pull the motor to pull the cases apart to flush out any remaining piston pieces..

I'll get teh crank inspected as well.

I also noticed the suspension could be set up for more transfer..

Front Shock is in the rear top location the rear botton scissor is in the middle hole

time to put the front shock in the lower front hole, and more the rear scissor to the
front mounting hole. give that a shot..
