I picked up some used hot seat twin pipes for my 02 xc 800 and I was wondering if anybody has heard them. Are they looud, and did they help make any power? I got them pretty cheap, so I am debating putting them on or not.

Put them on and find out. Did you get the spec sheets from HSP? If not then, I would call them and request one. Once you try it out, you may like it, if not then you can always put your stock pipe back on and sell the twin pipes. WL.

Ya, thats what I am probly going to have to do. I have a MBRP race can on right now anyways so It sounds pretty good anyways.

Pretty hard to say if HS will have their jetting right, watch your plugs. Found out the hard way when I installed a set on a '98 700 I had, main jets were right on but had to raise a needle one position, but it ran strong and got better gas mileage afterwards.

Be very carefull with twins on a '02 800 !! The 02's have a high compression ratio to start with and twins will raise the "running compression " to a point of detonation. This was brought up in an article in Sno Tech a couple of years ago. The article was about a build up in stages and the final stage was twins . They said at under 3000' alt. you should run a race gas mix. I saw an '02 800 burn down twice in one week before the guy sold the pipes for $100!! Maybe someone can find the article.

slp reccommends running there heads if u put twins on or run a race fuel blend because opf the compression

i havent heard real great thing about hotseats pipes. indy head had them on a xc 600 and had nothing but probs with them

honestly my best suggestion is to sell them and buy some SLP or Crank shop, or even Rugland pipes if you can find them

I have Hot Seat heads on my 800 (01'), but my mechanic would not put on Hot Seat pipes...My sled was their guinea pig for internet sales, and spent 150 miles on a dyno before it hit snow. Read as much into that as you want.
xc-mark
good luck getting any help from Hot seat cust service ! and if you do get any help hope its right , they are on of the most difficult companys to deal with! I sold my used Hs pipe at a HUGE loss just so I ddint throw it out! took 4 weeks , 4 phone calls , 6 emails with pictures just to get the correct doughnut gasket!

XC-MARK, You should have never sold them. They work great for keeping your trailer from rolling away when you chock the tire with them especially if you have the twin pipes!

I've never been impressed with there actual real world gain and the consistancy is terrible. The are nice looking, fit well, and last really well, but lack luster perf and the extreme lack of tech help or any other answer from HotSeat is inexcusable for a big shot aftermarket company. They should respond much better than they do. JMO

I'm selling them!
