If you knew what to use it produced good on saturday. Hard to se but check out the one with the mangled hooks. we broke 2 lures on saturday. but were still able to land those. It was the other 3 that got of close to the boat Looked like they were short striking that day , but we definately had the right color pattern cuz they consistently got the takes. Nothing like a singing reel and a tail whip of the wash rod

Looks like you had a good turn out, then again you pretty much never go without catching one if you know what your doing. We used to muskie fish all the time out there, awesome water color too! What was the biggest size? Largest i've got is 53" dont know the weight but it was huge.

the biggest that day was a 54.5" "snake". It didn't have much girth at all but it is early in the season, It was a little over 32 lbs. Alot of the fish had to be nursed back no matter how long they were out of the water or even if they didn't. But all did revive fine and positively took off with a splash. I think I posted one pic twice cuz it had an error up there. None of these lures worked but we did find a particular color that did, weeds were bad cleaning every 5-10 minutes. We out did alot of the boats fishing near us, most being skunked. Had to make a couple desperate dives to net too. The big ones dont realize their hooked till they get within 25' it seems.

Awesome sounds like a good trip! Which color was working? Usually we did generally good on the bass patterns/colors

Nice fishing :div20: I wish we had fish like that in Lake Michigan, it looks like you guys were trolling, is that how most Muskies are caught on St. Clair?

Yes , most = 90% are caught by trolling and definately the big ones are caught trolling, the casters that do catch a big one closely guard that secret but there are only 2-3 that practice it, and they are more of the oppourtunist than anything.
Well the 9$ bass wasn't working but any type of light brown smallmouth pattern did work. Which tells me the smallies have broken up. 2-3 weeks ago you couldn't buy a bite. The cedar leo in the one pic was the color working but not that particular lure. Muskie specials from drifter tackle.com is what we caught all of them on. Had to be a light yellow belly too. white or bright didn't work. black or dark backs wouldn't work either. Seen LOTS of dead carp on the surface. We had one take and break the surface completely out of water this year. first time ever being straight up and down did the tail walk too. Them 20-26 pounders are the big fighters right now anything bigger and they dont do battle until close to the boat.

How's fall fishing on St. Clair? I'm looking for something not too away far this fall to fish for eye's and esox. Are there places to stay on St. Clair where I can dock my boat?

You can fish your heart out in the fall for just about anything. There are cheap places to stay. You just have to be in the "IN" with a couple local shops and they will help you very well. But the boats all bunched up is a pretty good sign. We caught fish were everyone else was but they weren't so its all about "HOW". That same 54" muskie we released could very well weigh 40+ lbs by november. It had alot of sag and nothing in its belly from what we could feel. When they have smallies or a sheep head in there you can see the plate in the belly. Eyes are always good if you chase them around the lake. A hand liner can limit out 365-24-7. But what fun is that. Pulling up a 2lb sinker with a good eating 3 lber.
