I have been looking on the net for a reverse kit for my 2002 XC 700 SP but have not found one?? Can anybody tell me if they make one and where to find it?

Here ya go. I think its the one for the edge chassis.

mine has it & I love it.It looks like the one in ZR52Ks link.I just took cover off to check it & the bolt in the drive shaft was backed all the way out & it had blue locktight on it .

Cool - thanks - I am not getting any younger and my back has been shot since college hockey took it's toll on it :div20:

xcbullet - did you do the install yourself?? I have changed gears, tracks and jack shaft bearings so I don't think it would be that tough for me?? dunno.gif

Shop around at different dealers. I got a kit for $225. 00 CDN vs the $600+ listed for it. The price as right because it was the end of season and it was in stock. They also ordered in a reverse gear for $49.00 vs the $115.00 listed? Install was easy, I have done it before. Call around for inventory. Good luck.

No it was on when I got it as a demo, but not much to it,not shur how the middel gears go on, might just have to to tap the pin in place or does the whole case have to be replaced thinksno ?

I've done a couple of them. Directions are not very good, but anything you don't understand could be posted here. Mechanically they aren't to bad to install with common tools and a little patience. GenII are a nightmare but the Edge isn't bad at all.

You'll be buying a new lower gear as part of the conversion, kind of expensive. Have seen a few deals on used though. Consider upgrading your gear ratio as part of the conversion.

This might not be the case with polaris, but im pretty sure with the arctic cats the reverse kit limits your gearing to only 2 ratios. One regular and one for high altitude.

I know bolts backing out or loose have been a problem for all sleds. The middle pin shound be lock tight threaded to a stud on the back of case. All tou do is thread a 3/8-24 x 3/4" long bolt into pin and tighten stud. Make sure you have the O ring that fits in bevel on top of pin other wise case may leak. The kit uses the same case but comes with a new cover. You can pick different bottom gears for the reverse, I stuck with the 40 tooth but a lot of guys are running 41, you have to make sure your gears and chain are an approved combo for the case. I have the full install instructions I could post if anyone wanted. Bob

I was just wondering wouldn't the PERC kit work with an 02 ? I was told I could go with a PERC kit for my 00 for somewhere around $350 cdn.

Can anyone confirm this ?
racerdave
perc isn't available as a kit for a 02. you can put perc on but there are things needed beyond what is in the 03 kit

Not worth the amount of change for perc. Dave Holiday Polaris in Shelbune Ontario is getting out of Polaris and had some kits discounted. 411 them and ask for Kevin.

Sorry, they changed their name now to Elmira. 1-866-925-2944, Kevin in parts/ service. I believe they still had at least two kits left in April, when I bought mine.
GMANN
Gentlemen - Kevin does have some left however he said the part number is 2872639 and is labeled for a 2001 edge only?? The chain case part numbers are the same for the 2002 and the 2001 dunno.gif Can anybody tell me if this will fit??
Xc Special
likely the only difference is the way the reverse handle mounts . i believe the plastic cowl where the pull cord is different, mechanically it should be the same.
