I'm casualy looking for a new sled and came across a decent Mountain Cat.

I was just wondering how mountain sleds are as a gerneral seld. It will mostly be used for ditch banging, but my dream is to someday take a mountain tour. Is there any disadvantages to the long track with general riding? I dont need to go super fast. I want something that is good on jumps mostly.

I'm a noob that is used to riding old machines (73 John deere, 83 Enticer), and just wanted to get some peoples opinions.

That sled is kinda far away from Parkhill Ontario don't ya think

BTW there is a 2002 MC 800 in Espanola Ont for $6400

Still way too much $$$ IMO but it is closer and newer

Ha, sorry, I gotta change my location, I just moved to Manor Saskatchewan, that sled is about 10 minutes away.

overpriced I think... mid 3's is what I'd pay for the sled. If you look around, you can find M7's for high to mid 5's with a 141.... and I've seen M6's sell for high 4's, low 5's

Long track will have less top end if that's one of your things, but will be a little better in acceleration IMO because you have more track on the ground. If you get too long of a track you won't want to jump it because of the length of the rails and they are going to be more valnurable to bending if you slightly case one. Jumping long tracks in plenty of powder like in the mountains is fine like you see on some videos but they aren't the best for jumping in ditches with little to moderate snow unless you land it perfrect EVERY time.

Yeah now that I think of it, that seems kind of high. Probably why it hasn't sold. It's been on there for awhile. Maybe if I offered him 500 CAN, thats about 4000 US. ??? opinions?

Does anyone have any input on my first ???
goldenboy
I think it would be over priced at anything 4k US or over.

That seems like a bit too much moola for that machine. The '02 whould be priced at around that. I'd hold out for the '02, there's a few around.

Wow, that is a little bit in the middle of no where. Glad to see people actually moving here to Saskatchewan. Mountain sleds are very popular on the prairies. They are great for riding cross country over the fields, and you got lots of fields way down there in Manor. The snow can get real deep in the coulies and Kenosee is not that far for trail riding through woodlands.

You're going to have to look for comparative pricing in the local area to really know if the asking is too high or not. There is not a direct correlation between Canadian and US pricing, so direct currency conversion won't give good comparisons. This spring my local dealer had a couple 800 Mountain Cats on the lot, maybe give them a call and see what they are asking, and if they don't have any ask what they think these sleds should go for. Riverside Arctic Cat, 1-800-914-6422. :div20: :beerchug:
