We are thinking about buying a 2002 ZR800 cce with a D@D 900 motor kit in it,He wants 6,500 for it. It has 1300 miles on the sled and 450 on the motor mod. :div20: Is it worth the money??

About how much hp will it have? It has D@D twin pipes with the kit.

He means 450miles on the motor.

I personally wouldn't do it, for 6500, I'd spend another 1500 (on the high side) and get a new F7.

I would say that seems a little high to me. Just picked up mine last year, twins, and a few other small things. great sled love it. I would think with the 900 kit it would be great, if you can get it for less $$

If I can get it for 6,000 would it be a good price???

If the sled is in good shape, and you listed low miles...it's worth say 4000-4500, stock. So figure out what the mods are worth to you and make an offer.

Sled is in great shape,It has 6 inch runners, 196 studs,D@D900 motor with twin pipes,Ckit, new track,. I am going to offer him 5,800 for it cash and see what he says. Would the ZR8 with a 900 motor mod in it from D@D would that run with the F9 if setup right??

I think it is a good price,It has tons of after market parts and low miles on the motor and the sled. But If I bring 5,500 cash I think he will take it.

100% won't run w/ the F9 regardless of how well it is set up (if the f9 is set up)
That price seems a little high, there are 05 zr900's going for not much more than that out the door....

I dont know maybe I should look past this then, I am going to take the sled around the grass when I got there then I am going to offer 5,300 and I am going to tell him what speedwerx said about the 05 ZR900 going for not much more then that. If I really like the sled I will give him 5,300 If he dont then he can stick the sled and I will wait for the 06 F7 efi snopro to come out. :div20:

Thats a horrible price to be honest with you....
I've seen 2001/2002 ZR 800's with 1010 kits in them go for $3500-4500 with the low miles that are on this sled.
Not worth it IMO.

Its a great sled. If you are happy with what you paid, then that is what really matters. My personal opinion is the price was high. I paid $5800 for my 02 zr8 cross country edition back in 02. The sled had been used three weekends and only had 800 miles on it. I happened to be on the same trips as the original owner, but didn't know him. He was jumping out of sledding and let everything go for the above price. The sled was mint and came with a ton of extras. Arctic Cat jacket, gloves, boots, and helmet. Brand new unused AC cover, oil, communicator, shop dolly, two trailer tires, gear bag, studs, screen kit, etc... I had receipts with the sled, original $7800 plus extras that totalled just under $11,000. I sold the clothing, helmet and boots, for $500. They were triple x and I'm not that big. I then sold the 97 mxz 670 for $3000. I'm still riding the sled today, and all my buddy's still talk about the "score" I got. So there are deals out there, just got to be at the right place at the right time. Good luck with the zr. Some things to check along the way. Make sure the pull start recall has been done. Check the idler wheels and change over the bearings. Remove the cheesy bottom shock bushing under the dial adjust shock and buy one from Bill at Sno-tek, only about $10 bucks. I had great luck with the dial adjust until I had it rebuilt by two different reputable shock experts. Now I only get a couple of rides out of it before it fails. I even paid extra for a chrome piston arm (not sure what its called) and better bushings and seals. Be careful with the power breather on cold days and long pulls. Cap it off below 10 degrees. Put fat boy springs on the sled if they are not already on there. Save some headaches now. Check the hoses for wear also. There was a recall on the front lower radiator hose. It rubs on the bulk head. Replace it and cover with plastic tubing and zip tie so it will not rub. The other hose that was problematic is the one closest to the recoil. I covered all the hoses with plastic hose wrap. If you don't have one already, buy the cd -rom manual, its worth having.Once again, good luck with the sled. If you have any questions send me a pm, and I will try to help you out. ZR8RIDER

Thanks for all the help you gave and will give to me ZR8rider,I took it around the grass and it seems that it will smoke the hell out of my viper. But I think 5,000 is fine for the sled,Yea it is a little dirty but I will clean it up and see how it looks afterward.

Also deals wise to put it into purspective i got my uncle a brand new in the crate 01 zr 600 LE, for $6200 canadian. This was february and yeah thats a brand new sled stll was in the crate when we picked it up.

Jun 27 2005, 08:44 PM
I agree with JagZ440, that is alot of sled for anyone. At least 150 - 170hp, depending on set up, tuning, and running conditions. My D&D 700 makes 155hp. Not bad huh?
BE CAREFULL AND DRIVE SMART & SOBER !!
I have driven at least a dozen D&D mod motors in various chassis, and yours will smoke, if it's set up for YOU. Never mind the stock 900's going out the door for less, yours will kill a stock 900 - again, if it's set up for you. The F9 is gonna be at least 70lbs lighter than yours, (never mind the technology) so I think you will find competition there.
I think the price was a little high, but the '02 800 chassis is a great place for that motor to live man.
In the end, it's like what ZR8Rider said ... if your happy, then your good to go.

born to ride the cce sled is a sought after sled and considered to be one of the nicest zrs that has been made thus far
I also have a 02 cce zr I would not worry about nos untill you get use to the sled that is a whole lot of motor and not many will beat you in fact the sled will probably scare the shit out of you from time to time
couple of things I would do have the pipes coated
and upgrade your power valves if you do not upgrade the power valves I would recomend cleaning them before and at the end of evry season
maby we will run into eachother on the trails and we can race lol
here are some pics of my 02 cce
I have a 1080 motor and I paid 5,500
I dont feel that you got a bad deal you could sell that sled for more than what you payed for it when the snow hits thats what matters is that you can get your money back
as for the guys saying my freind this or that dont sweat them
remember your motor is trailable where theirs may not be lol
keep an eye on your temps whith a mod motor
may want to install a radiator under the hood for extra cooling I have one in mine tucked in the nose with a 120mm pusher fan to keep it cool lol GL with that cce here is a link to a poll on the best looking zrs check it out

Thanks guy for all of the info, When I got to ride it on the grass it pulled very hard in the short distance that I had a chance to ride it. I think 5,000 is a good price for this sled and i love the way it looks. The only bad thing about this is that I dont think that I can get my F7 but this will be faster then the F7.

I dont think that I am going to put some funny gas in it but If I do keep this sled maybe I will upgrade the motor. I am going to go over it tomorrow and see If the updates are done then I am going to get the power valves updates if they are not already.

Jun 27 2005, 10:17 PM
you got a bad ass sled I would not worry about upgrading untill you have ridden it and seen what it can do
d&d would be a good place to start for your clutching needs especialy since you have their motor they will know more on what you will want to run
my mechanic that tunes my 02 says that when you buy a d&d clutch you install it and go you dont have to mess with them they are on top of their game
call them up and talk to some one tell them your weight what type of snow you will be in and most of all what you want to get out of your sled 1,000 foot gearing is usualy good for trail and race
I am running 1000 foot gearing in my sled
I have thought about nos on my sled as well but I am going to go next season and wait and see how many times I get beat before I venture into that
I think I am going to go ahead and install the nitrous on my mach z and spray 20hp a hole for a 60 hp gain
if you decide to go with nos I recomend that you find some one that has had it dont be a do it your selfer you dont want to melt down a mod motor there is a lot to installing nos and being safe
you can melt down a motor real kwik if it is not done right or you make a mistake well any how gl with your sled where you from any way ??

Dude, it sounds like you already took mental ownership of it. Price is WAY high. That sled wouldn't fetch more than 4500 around here, regardless of options. It's gonna be 4 years old this winter. Don't get me wrong, I had a ZR800, and the CCE is a great sled, but that price is high.
