Best bang for the buck? $500 would have got you a F7. Maybe you have certain curcumstances but I see it a lot where people get the F6 to save money but then spend the price difference between the F6 and F7 in mods for the F6.
But ah, back to your qustion, clutching would be the best start. I say ODS.
HEHE, its more fun to beat/ run with doo 800's with a 600 than it is with the 700. Plus its a toss up between the 05 F6 and F7 anyways as far as who gets across the lake first. With the new fusion 600 coming out this year its a good year to be on an F6, beating up on the Doo Super Low output rev 600's got old pretty quick.
Don't mess with a timing key, I've heard the 600 already has a pretty hot mid and the maximum you can go is around 2 deg., not really worth it when you think of the flip side.
I'd put the money into clutching, maybe install some bullseyes, tpi's etc into the airbox. Also all the motor mods are a total waste of time if your untudded with the 1" track. So some good quality studs are in order or the big lug track if you don't ride on ice much. If your trying to make the sled go as fast as possible put the stock silencer back on, your just making more noise and going slower with Mbrp, sell it and buy something useful with the money. Also some C&A ski's will make a huge improvement over stock. These mods will keep the engine pretty much stock reliable.
Keep in mind if you don't have alot of money to mod the sled, your certainly not gonna have alot of money to fix it when it pops. So mod accordingly. Also don't know about your F6 but mine from the factory was a complete Oil Whore, almost had to tow it home the first day of riding drank the resivoir in 110 miles. So be prepared to adjust if you haven't already.
