My 03 ProX hiccupped at the edge of a pond this spring and got about half wet. Chaincase got some water in it.

I drained the oil and pulled the cover to make sure all water was out and there it was! The lower sprocket bolt was backed out about the width of a washer and I could turn it with my fingers! ooh4.gif

Everyone, Pull you chain case cover.....

I pulled mine ('02XC8) to do the popular 24/41 gear change....and the bolt had backed out to the point where it was working on the cover! Another few miles, and I'd have been walking/cleaning up a mess!

Agreed, pull the covers and replace/clean/loctite the bolt.

The Polaris manual says 19 ft/lbs. That is CRAZY! Way too much torque for that size bolt! Use some blue Loctite and go to 10 ft/lbs. Even that feels like a lot. This is what my dealer has been doing for years, with no problems yet. :div20:
