hey guys trying to decide what to do with my 03 800, last winter the ticker quit ticking when a piston decided to stick and break the crank and bend a rod....big mess i got a lttle over 10,000 miles out of it, and plan on gettin another 10,000 out of it. but i need to keep it reliable enough to daytrip with....any suggestions on some motor mods or where to send it, i was kind of thinking of sending it to carls cycle, heard good things about the 660 let me know what you think. thanks

p.s. the failure was due to the oil line than runs behind the mag side jug, the plastic loom wore thru and put a pinhole in the line, it ran lean on a wide open burst up hill,, i guess all im saying is check your injection lines, i cant belive i didnt catch the oil leak but thats the way it goes.. thanks for the suggestions

I've got an '03 800ves motor for sale, ONLY 473 trail miles. Perfect condition. I'm in SE Michigan, about 30 miles north of Detroit....

You can do a simple drop-in and then salvage whatever is "good" from your blown motor to re-sell and recover some funds....

put a good used motor in it in the fall with Carls porting on the jugs..... Indy head also is some one I would use for porting.... Nice to hear it was a hi mileage failer, 10 K is not bad ! I would replace the oil pump if your next motor doesnt have one.
