I will be attending Alfred University next year and was wondering if there is any good riding down that way? Either in Allegany Co. or sorrounding areas? Any places to store the sled trailside for the winter? Any info appreciated. ylsuper.gif

Look for OtterBob over on ArcticChat.com He lives in Alfred and might give you the advice you need for a place to store your sled. I'd offer you my shed for storage, but I'm about an hour from Alfred.

I graduated from AU a few years ago. Great deer hunting down there, although I didnt have a sled at the time. There are a few little self storage places down there now if Im not mistaken. Find somebody who's renting a house down there, make friends and store it in thier driveway. :div20:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it against the law to store combustable engines in those storage units??

Hey I am about 45 minutes from you on Rt. 19. I was wondering the same thing too about trails down there. I used to date a girl from AU. Anyways we should all hook up. I know OtterBob is from that area and Mike929 is from Hornell. My cousin will be going to A-State this fall so I'll be there partying it up now and then.

Sorry man, leave your sled at home.. I went to school down in Alfred for 4 years, graduating in 2001.. The winter was cold, but barely ever enough snow to shake a stick at. If there was lake effect snow at home, I would go home and ride all weekend, then go back to school late Sunday night. Enjoy Alfred.. I know I did  :beerchug:
otterbob
our club here takes great care of our trails. there are more state land roads here in alfred/almond area than any area in allegany county. we had some good trail maps made up last year and are available for $5. from here in almond you can ride to about any where in wny. and you are only about 45minutes from some heavy duty lake effect snow (bliss, arcade) if the snow gods dont hit us right away. as far as sled storage, there are lots of rental storage sheds around.

Otterbob,

Is Allegany County printing a county wide trail map for this season, that shows all the trails?
